    Legend Of The Founding Arcanists

There is an ancient legend taught to those who take part in the Arcane Arts. The legend revolved around three powerful people. These three were the first Arcanists to exist and each were given special titles. The first was Vincent Arklight, the Divine Sorcerer. The second was Elfric Adonas, the Grand Scholar. And the final was Rydia Ianette, the Master Evoker. Once normal humans, the three of them were great friends and the leaders of the three Great Kingdoms. Once every year, during the Aurora Borealis, the three would unite at a set location, different every time. This year, the chosen location was at the highest peak of Highwall. Upon the appearance of the Aurora Borealis, the three leaders were swept into what they had only thought of as lights, unaware of the properties within. As it passed through them, they all felt strange, light headed, and weak. Soon, they passed out, only to awake the next day and two of them received powers. They studied these powers over time, learned the ways to use them. Rydia though, was left out of the group, having not received powers for some reason. Elfric discovered a way to allow her to use powers of her own by using his skill to infuse Arcana into an item. And with that the three Founding Arcanists were born. Over the years, the amazed their subjects with acts of 'miracles' and even taught people how to use magic items themselves.

One day, Rydia became pregnant with Elfric's child and united their kingdoms under the birth of a son. Vincent, thrown into a jealous rage, though he too had his own son by a woman he met, but had not loved, chose to betray his friends by attempting to kill Elfric. But, their combined power was too much for him and the Sorcerer was slain. Hearing news of this, Vincent's wife sent an assassin to kill the woman who took her husbands heart from her and succeeded in having Rydia killed. Realizing what happened, Elfric was thrown into rage and declared war on Vincent's kingdom, but before Rydia's Kingdom knew to retaliate along with him, Vincent's massive and well-trained military force slaughtered his own and took Elfric's life. The death of the Founding Arcanists threw all the kingdoms into a massive war for thirty-three years. Finally the fighting ceased, but the kingdoms were broken. With a large amount of death on all sides, no one knew what to do. Slowly but surely, leaders were chosen and countries were built from the rubble.

A History Long Forgotten: Fall Of The Elven Race

All records before the time of the Grand War were lost in the raging fires of battle. The Elves, over two thousand years ago, thought themselves superior to the humans and treated them as such. To the Elves, Humans were lower beings; weak and useless. This way of thinking was brought on by one thing, magic. Anima, as the Elves call it, allowed them to connect with the four elements and gain completely control over fire, air, earth, or water. These powers allowed them to force the Humans into slavery. After years of torture and subjugation, the humans finally revolted. The fight went on for ten years, and the humans greater numbers and determination won them the war. Since then, the Elves have hidden themselves within the forests and mountains of Aurora or the only Elven Kingdom that exists this day: Friona. Every century, they would attempt to integrate with the humans, but the memory of oppression was too great for them to forget.

For three hundred years, the Elves decides among themselves to disappear from the humans' lives and kept to themselves in their own kingdom. Over time, the humans forgot of the years of oppression. The lack of records, since they were all destroyed in the war, helped this fact greatly. Every now and then, an Elf would leave their home and attempt to integrate among the humans, but they are constantly met with disgust, hate, and fear. Before the Arcane Arts, they were seen as witches because of their magic and freaks because of the way they looked. They were shunned. Even when the Arcane Arts came about, their physical differences (the long ears) seemed to be too much for humans to handle. In the more recent years, people have become slightly more accepting and open to what isn't 'normal', but discrimination is still very common...

The History of Angels and Demons

Demons did not always exist as commonly as they do today. Demons were once Angels, part of the heavenly cycle of good that has existed since the beginning of time. Two thousand years ago, a few gods convinced an army of Angels to rebel against the others. A war was fought and the rebelling Angels were pushed back and defeated. The victorious gods decided on a punishment for the traitors, including the gods that led them and banished them to Netheris, a corrupted realm of chaos and darkness. This event has come to be known as the Banishment. Years of exposure to the tainted realm caused the beings who were once symbols of good and light to mutate and change into beings of evil and darkness. They had become the Demons of Netheris while the gods were given the title of Devil. Finally fed up with their imprisonment in this dull realm, the Demons found ways to escape, but did not end up back in Aetheria like they hoped. Instead, they found themselves on the planet Aurora, the realm of humans, elves, and other mortal creatures.

With no hope of returning to their original homes, they decided Aurora would become their new homeland. They fought against the creatures of Aurora for decades, but a creature they did not expect to be so powerful thwarted them and made their attempts at domination more difficult. These creatures were the Dragons, a very powerful race of beings with the ability to use an energy called Arcana. The Demons decided to send out their strongest warriors, the Apollyon, and were able to push the Draconic forces back. The gods did not expect such an uprising on Aurora, nor did they expect the Demons to be able to escape Netheris, but when they first heard the prayer, they realized what had been done. One by one, as the humans and elves of Aurora prayed for aid, the Archangels were released into the mortal realm to fight off the Apollyon and end the suffering these dark creatures caused. Though the Apollyon have been pushed back and killed, more take their place. Even in an era of peace, the threat of the Demonic forces within Nethoral stands strong.
