    Arcadian History

If you would like to add a piece of history to Arcadia, please just ask Serenity. Any history written here is known to most, if not all Arcadians. These stories and myths are taught in schools. These are stories, histories, and myths that effect the country, not just a small area. Things that effect a small area (or are from other countries) will be placed into the "Arcadia's Well-Known" section.

    The Beginning

The kingdom of Arcadia started out with a simple, yet powerful word. “Enough!” The woman known as Aria threw down her weapon and spoke from her heart. "This has to stop. We have been fighting for too long and for reasons no one here can remember. Our parents died fighting the same fight we're still fighting today. Are we going to continue fighting until there is no one left? Are we going to continue killing each other until the ground is bathed in so much red that the green pastures become nothing but a myth? It is time to live our lives without fear of death, without the horrors of constant battle shaking us awake at night. No more. I am sick of the stench of dried blood staining my clothes. Who else is finished with this pointless war? I can fight no longer..."

They only fought because the generation before had fought, along with the generation before that. No one could remember the reason behind the bloodshed. They could only recall that it was not their own. It only took a moment for hundreds of weapons to fall and this Kingdom came together. News spread and Arcadia was the first country to form after the Great War ended. Over the next few months, it rained as Arcadians built their homes from the bottom up. This rain became known as The Purification. It lasted long enough to wash the blood and stench away. Soon after, the beauty of Arcadia grew and the people were able to value their home much more. Aria was named their leader and after word spread of the wars ceasing, the entire northern hemisphere was claimed as Arcadia. Once things settled, there was a ceremony to honor Aria and officially name the woman the Queen of Arcadia.

The Birth and Death Of Aria

The White Mountain became the home of the Queen and the first citizens to cease the war. Homes and businesses were carved into the solid rock. Over time, Aria became a working society. During this time of cooperation and peace, the Queen married and became pregnant. Soon, Arcadia would have it's first prince. Unfortunately, nine months later Aria died giving birth to her son. To honor her memory, for the next one hundred years, the citizens of the City continued carving out what is known to this day as the most beautiful city in the world, and it was fittingly named Aria, the Capital of the Kingdom of Arcadia. Throughout the years of the city's birth, the news of Aria's death spread through the Kingdom. Cities everywhere in the Kingdom Arcadia decided to honor her and people began working together to build new homes, new cities, and worked together as a community. With the rise and prosperity of the Kingdom came the Seven Cities Of Arcadia. And these seven cities still stand today.

From Kings and Queens to a Council 100 years ago...

Arcadia is a massive country, the biggest in the world. It became increasingly difficult for it to be lead by a single woman. Queen Adriana Aranhartte, a descendant of Aria, began understanding the problems that this sort of ruling was bringing to her people. Population had increased massively over the years and the people of Arcadia needed help, guidance, and protection. After a couple years of planning and carefully choosing people, Queen Adriana Aranhartte let the public know that nothing will be lead by a Queen anymore, but by a group of carefully chosen individuals that will oversee different areas of Arcadia, take care of Arcanic issues, and work together as a group instead of being lead by a single person. At first, people were very hesitant and scared of the change, but when the economy jumped, people became more protected, and a lot of the violence stopped, no one could argue. Since then, there has not been a King or Queen of Arcadia, though the final descendant is with Lillianna Aranhartte.

Chronic Arcana Eradication 3 years ago...

Otherwise known as CAE... This disease swept through the country at an alarming rate. Thousands of people were effected by this disease. There was only one person who came forward and was able to stop it. Serenity Verdant, a native Arcadian with the power to heal, rushed through to as many people as she possibly could. She healed thousands of people and became very well-known because of it. It took some time, but once everyone was healed, Serenity seemed to vanish off the face of the earth.

The Kingdom Of Arcadia Empty Re: The Kingdom Of Arcadia

Post by Serenity Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:31 pm

    Basics of Arcadia

    Present Time Arcadia: 500 A.E.

Languages Spoken: English (Universal), Italian (Arcadian)

Arcadia's Reputation: Arcadia's known for it's extremely valuable Arcanic goods. They are also known for their dislike of technologies, so their relationship with the Empire of Zakat and it's people is not positive. To Cieria and Brauk, the relationship is much better, since Arcadia is willing to export some of their needs, such as medical supplies. The people of Arcadia are very easy going and open minded (almost too much so). They're accepting of anyone that is not a tech-freak, but this does not include the elves. Elves are discriminated against in smaller towns and villages, but accepted in the big cities.

    Adjective form: Arcadian

    Approx. Total Population: 130,000,000

Arcanist Numbers: 95 for every 100.

Prime Exports: Arcane Weapons, Arcane Items, and Medical Supplies.

    The People Of Arcadia:

    Average Male Height: 5'11"
    Average Female Height: 5'3"

Most Common Eye Colors: Green, Purple, Blue

Most Common Hair Colors: Bright and colorful: Pink, Blue, Green, White, Purple... Red, Black, Brown, and Blonde are actually rare.

The Arcane Arts make these peoples lives whole. No one feels they could live without it. It's their source for just about everything needed in life. Though people with high skill in the Arcane are on the rarer side, most people consider themselves Evokers because they buy Arcane Items from practically any store on the street. What is impressive in Arcadia is being a Scholar or a Sorcerer. A scholar is a person who can help make life better. They can make Arcane Items and Weapons on their own and still use the more powerful forms of magic. They're often thought of as heroes and providers among the civilians of Arcadia. A sorcerer's power is unlimited. They can cast immediately without need for an item, words, incantation, or any sort of medium. And most importantly, the people with the mark of an official guild are highly thought of, even if their guild might cause a bit of trouble.

On their own, Arcadians are a kind people. They treat each other with respect and are very helpful to each other. At the same time, Arcadians are very open minded. Sometimes, this isn't a good thing. Demon and Angel summoning is proof of this. Arcadians are a curious people when it comes to the Arcane. They will push themselves to find out more and more about it, to harness it, to create new forms of it, and use it to the best of their ability. Although Angels are not hated because of their pure nature, Demons are often looked down upon, even if they aren't evil. Demons have always had a negative connotation to their existence. Their very energy is harsh and sometimes harmful. The only other creature that is looked negatively upon more than Demons are Elves. The Elven races suck the life out of the world. The fact that Elves live off of Arcana, even if they call it by a different name, anger Arcadians and cause Elves to be disliked, but those in bigger cities seem more accepting.

Arcadians natural ability with the Arcane has given them an edge on the world. People without the Arcane Arts at their beck and call are more sickly and injuries take lives much easier. This is why the Arcadian people think a certain other country foolish. Zakatians and their technologies are slowly ruining the world. At least Arcana is a natural, healing, and renewable resource. Arcadians don't seem to care that Zakat is not blessed with an Arcana rich land; they're stupid for ruining the bit that they once had with electricity and smog. As for Cieria, Arcadians have respect for them. They care for the beasts that share their home instead of just killing them and using them on sight. With Brauk, it's the same thing. Instead of destroying the land, they carefully use it to their advantage.

Funnily enough, Arcadians share that with Elves. They're protective of the land and it's resources and even use their magics to renew what they have taken. So each time they cut down a tree, they plant two in it's place. When they mine a mountain, they never go too deep. When the slay a beast, they use what they can and bury the rest in respect. They're not foolish though. They're not sleeping on rocks and out of tents because they don't want to destroy the land. They're not going to live in trees. They just take what they need for what they want and make sure to take care of everything else. Arcadians that are not part of guilds are often in the medical field, using herbs for medicinal purposes. If not, they're in the Arcadian Defense Legion, construction, or run small businesses.

The Arcadian Military: See Arcadian Hierarchy. Other than that thread, there are a few things that must be noted. Arcadians accept any gender ages 14+ for military service. Those who join that are ages 14-18 are not sent into battle. To be accepted into Arcadian military, there is a strength, cardio, and history test you must complete. You also take an oath pledging your service to Arcadia.

    The Kingdom Of Arcadia ArcadianLawHeader_zpsc0098ab6
With Arcadia's current reputation, it is shocking that some of their laws can be so strict and almost inhumane at times. They have been known as the Kingdom with the least amount of crime for a reason: people fear the punishments implemented on those considered criminals. Arcadia has stood strong with the belief that “If one fears the consequences, they will not act in a manner that deserves them. If one does not fear the consequences, they will act as they please.”

    Quick Definitions:
Major Crimes: Major Crimes are considered the more heinous of crimes and will not be tolerated. These crimes will have the worst of punishments for those who commit them.
Minor Crimes: Minor Crimes are considered less impacting, but still cause problems. The punishments for these crimes are not as heavy, but can get there if done multiple times.
Injury: Injury does not mean pain. A person will not be called injured because they were slapped and had a little red mark. A person is injured if blood is shown, or bones are broken, or bruises have formed. There are many variants of this, but “it hurt” is not going to be a tolerated excuse.

    Basic Law

Legal Age: The legal age for drinking, consent, and for law is 18. Teenagers can get jobs at 15.

    Incest: ILLEGAL, Punished Through Castration!

Abortion: The current law on abortion in Arcadia states that abortion is illegal unless certain criteria are met. The criteria are: the pregnant woman is under the age of 18, the child will be born unhealthy or deformed, the woman was impregnated through rape or molestation, the birth or carrying the baby endangers the life of the mother and/or child.

Homosexual Marriage: Legal. They are given the same rights as everyone else.

Healthcare: Universal. The only thing Arcadian Healthcare does not cover are elective surgeries and procedures. In other words, if you need it to be done, it will be done. If it's something like a nose or boob job, you're paying for that yourself.

Preservation Of Life: The law states that one may interfere with a situation if their interference preserved the health and prevented the deaths of those involved. This law is to protect onlookers and passerby's from being penalized by the law when their intentions to help ended the life of another. In other words, they will not be punished for murdering another person if they were putting their own lives on the line to protect another.
Preservation Of Self: This law is commonly referred to as Self-Defense and states that one may, by any means, protect themselves from harm, even if the conclusion of doing so has ended the life of another.

    • Self-defense is not accurate because you “felt” threatened. You actually have to have been threatened in some way. To “be” threatened, the person had to 1) be holding a weapon, 2) verbally say they are going to harm you, 3) move in for the assault, 4) be refusing to remove themselves from your property. Things like “he walked toward me with a menacing look” are not going to work. A person with this excuse will be trialed for murder.

    Major Crimes

    • Slavery, defined as any act that is the forcing of/or unpaid labor onto a person(s), is completely forbidden and punishable by a 5,000 gold fine and 5-10 years in prison, or 20 years in prison.
    • Rape, molestation, or anything that is of one person(s) forcing another person(s) into preforming sexual acts of any kind is completely forbidden and punishable by 15 years in prison, castration, or death.
    • Murder of non-accidental means, without the reason of self-defense, and without the reason of preservation of life is completely forbidden and punishable by 20 years to life in prison.
    • Child abuse, defined as the act of implementing emotional, mental, or physical neglect, harm, or damage to a person(s) below the age of 18 years (17 and younger 18 years old is adult), is forbidden and punishable by loss of custody if abuser is parent, prison for 10 or 15 years, or death.
    • Assault or the intentional act of harming someone through physical contact and causing injury through these actions is punishable by 5, 10, or 15 years in prison.
    • Kidnapping, or the abduction, taking, and hiding of any person(s) without permission of that person or their parental guardian, is punished with 10, 15, or 20 years in prison.
    • Torture, the infliction of injury or damage onto a persons body or mind over an extended period of time, is punishable by 15 years in prison, torture, or death.
    • Domestic abuse, or the infliction of injury on one's spouse, partner, or lover is punishable by 5, 10, 20 years in prison.
    • Treason is completely unacceptable and upon being proven guilty, the punishment is execution.

    Minor Crimes

    • Theft is defined as the taking of items that do not belong to you.
    • Fraud is defined as the providing of false information to a business, government agency, or other similar people.
    • Resisting arrest is defined as hindering guard or police efforts from apprehending you by running, fighting back, or hiding and can add up to five years on your sentence.
    • Blackmail is using information you hold to push others into doing what you want them to do.

    Punishment Laws

    1. The first count of any Major Crime is the minimum sentence. (First listed in crime explanation)
    2. The second count of any Major Crime is moderate sentence. (Second listed in crime explanation)
    3. The third count of any Major Crime is maximum sentence. (Third listed in crime explanation)

    1. The first count of any Minor Crime is a 1,000-10,000 gold fine, and community service or 6 months house arrest.
    2. The second count of any Minor Crime is 1-3 years prison time.
    3. The third count of any Minor Crime is minimum ten years in prison.

    1. Double Jeopardy is not out of the picture. If new evidence comes up on a case that's already been judged, a person can be put on trial for it.
    2. The fourth count on any crime results in life in prison (minor) or death (major).
    3. If a case lasts more than a year, it is brought to King or Queen for their judgment.

Note To All: This is done for fun, not to offend anyone. If you have an issue with a law, use it as a plot point in some role play, don't come complaining about it.

The Kingdom Of Arcadia Empty Re: The Kingdom Of Arcadia

Post by Serenity Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:39 pm

    The Seven Cities Of Arcadia

These Seven Cities are the main cities within the Kingdom. They are the one's that most people live in and everyone should know about. The Seven Cities Are: The Capital Aria, Arbas, Colburn, Grandview, Haven, Taria, and Varedia. Their descriptions are below.

Aria, The Capital Of Arcadia: Aria is the first city to rise from the rubble after the War. The people made their homes by carving their way into the mountains, so most of the city is literally in the mountain. Because of this, the city is often seen as a fortress. The city is surrounded by a 100 ft tall, 30 ft thick wall that is made up of Ariac Marble. There are three parts to this city: Outer Aria, Central Aria, and Inner Aria. Outer Aria is as would be expected, the outskirts of the city. This is where most of the shops are located, along with inns and anything else that a traveler could need. Central Aria is the main residential area, where most of the homes are. Each home is different, but they're all made up of wood, stone, or both. Inner Aria is where the castle is located, deep into the mountain, but before that are the Blacksmith, Enchanter's Shop, the Fletcher, and the housing for all Arcadian Soldiers.

Castle Of Aria: The entrance is carved deeper into the mountains of Aria for protection reasons. It's quite large and can house up to five hundred people without problem or crowding. Behind the castle is a large amount of caves that were carved out and are normally unused. They are there for emergency reasons, such as evacuation, and only three people know the way through the caves: Queen, King, and the Knight Of Arcadia.

The People: Because of the feeling of safety, the low crime rate, and being so close to their Queen, the people of Aria are genuinely kind, generous, and willing to lend a hand. Sure, you get a few bad apples, but it's rare. People come to live in Aria to be at peace and that is what they get.

    Population: 4.5 million approx.
    Crime Rate: Low
    Military: Very Heavy

Arbas: Arbas is a nice sized city on an island in the mid-west of Arcadia. It's perfectly located for fishing and is a huge part of where Arcadia get's it's seafood. It is nicknamed “The City On The Sea” for obvious reasons. The people here are hard workers: fishermen, agriculturalists, or part of construction in some way. They are a little rough around the edges because they're not used to getting visitors; they often treat strangers badly. They are good people once trust has been gained, but don't expect to immediately be welcomed. The feeling of being unwelcome is tripled if you're an elf. To get to any of the other islands within the ocean area ruled by Arcadia, Arbas is the easiest way to do it. They build strong ships that take on the dangers of the ocean a lot better than most other cities in Arcadia.

    Population: 750,000
    Crime Rate: Medium
    Military: Light

Colburn: Colburn is actually not that large of a town normally. It was originally a small settlement of people trying to start up their homes after the war ended. When it was discovered that a lot of the children had been gifted with skill over Arcana, people began to teach. These rumors came about and people became migrating to Colburn to learn as well. Over time, it grew and they realized they needed something to hold all of these people. That is when the idea of an academy came along. After the place was built, Rydian: The Academy Of Arcane Arts was born and more and more students came, not for the town but for the school. The city has become very open and all are allowed to travel there. The people are normally quite kind and welcoming of strangers, but personalities vary like most places. The buildings are mostly made of stone and wood, materials easily found, over the importing of metals. Since some Arcane Arts get a little destructive, making homes out of expensive material is not the best way to go about things.

Rydian: Academy Of Arcane Arts: Colburn is the home of Rydian, the school dedicated to teaching Arcanists from all over the world the history, properties, and skill of The Arcane. The city is vast and open, so there are no gates to keep people out. The people here vary from kind, to greedy, to shady, or to scum. The buildings are made of stone and wood. Those who live in this city are usually students or teachers of Rydian, but there are still some others to run shops.

    Population: 1.3 million approx.
    Crime Rate: Medium
    Military: Light

Grandview: Grandview sounds like a wonderful place, right? Well, it's not. Grandview is Arcadia's nuisance town. It's full of criminals, pirates, escaped convicts, crime bosses, drug lords, prostitution, and anything else that you can think of. This place has gotten so bad that the Arcadian Government now warns it's citizens not to enter the town because if you go missing they will not send people in to find you. This town is for the toughest of the tough. If you're a woman, you better be tougher or willing to open your legs. Otherwise, do not enter this town. It's a haven for the scum of the earth.

Two miles out, on every path that leads into Grandview, there are members of the ADL stationed to warn people from entering Grandview. Once people enter, if you're lost, killed, or anything like that, Arcadia no longer sees themselves as responsible. Any guilds placed here will be considered Dark.

    Population: 2 Million Guessed, Unknown
    Crime Rate: Extremely High
    Military: None

Haven: Haven holds the least amount of people out of all the cities because it is a town based on Medical Science and Arcane. The city can be compared to a military base of sorts and is guarded just as strictly. If you want to enter this city, you'll need a permit or invitation. You can get a permit by request. In the city, there are three different laboratories. The first is to the east edge of the city and concentrates on Arcane based healing. The second is to the Southwest of the city and concentrates on Emergency Medical Techniques and Medicines. The Third and final laboratory is to the North and concentrates on Arcana enhanced Medical technologies. This city is where 80% of Medical discoveries in the world happen and 95% of discoveries in Arcadia happen.

The residential areas are scattered all around the city. If you're living here, a lot of your maintenance is taken care of by the government because you or a family member are a member of one of the companies that work here. There is no living in Haven just because you want to. If you or your family have nothing to offer the medical studies, you will not be allowed to live in this city. All of the houses are middle-high class. No one is uncomfortable. The personalities in this city vary depending on who you're talking to. Guards are very lawful and strict, keeping to their codes. Workers and their families vary like a normal neighborhood. High ranking officials or “big wigs” are very serious about their work and do not take kindly to being interrupted. Their way of life depends on their research.

    Population: 30,000 approx.
    Crime Rate: Low
    Military: Strict, Heavy

Taria: Taria can be called a twin city to Varedia, but it's much newer and a lot less crowded. The place is as tropical as Varedia, but concentrates more on giving it's visitors a 'quiet' vacation. There aren't as many malls or shopping centers. There are quite a few hotels, cafes, and nice restaurants, but this seems like more of a place that people could retire too. Most people who live here are among the rich, but you can vacation here at any salary. The town is becoming well known for it's white sand beaches, it's clear blue calm waters, and it's friendly people.

    Population: 750,000 approx.
    Crime Rate: Medium
    Military: Medium

Varedia: Varedia is the tourist Capital of Arcadia. It is the tropical paradise that can be compared to an older time in Hawaii, the Caribbean, or the Bahamas. The waters are a beautifully clear blue, the sands are white, and the sun is always shining brightly in the sky. The city is made up of wonderful shopping centers to sell clothes, sporting gear, delicious foods, and anything else you can think of. Since the sun is always hot and beaming it's golden rays down on the city, the breeze off the ocean creates a very refreshing atmosphere that most don't want to miss.

Varedia is also home to “Green Way Central Park”, a massive park that spreads in a large area through out the city. The park is well taken care of and at it's center is a fountain statue depicting the first Queen of Arcadia, Aria Aranhartte.

The people of Varedia are used to the easy life. The idea of adventure and travel isn't something that crosses their minds to often. They love the comfort of the city, everything there is exactly how they want it. They live a stress free life without having to worry too much about the troubles of the world. They're friendly to practically everyone, even a little accepting of Elven kind, but don't expect them to up and leave their home.

    Population: 4.1 million approx.
    Crime Rate: Low
    Military: Light

The Kingdom Of Arcadia Empty Re: The Kingdom Of Arcadia

Post by Serenity Sat Jul 25, 2015 3:40 pm

    Arcadian Towns And Villages

    ARDALE:

Ardale is the trading town of Arcadia. The city is bustling with adventurers wanting nothing more than to shop, shop, shop. If you want an Arcane item or weapon, Ardale is where you go. If you want your Arcane Item repaired, Ardale is where you go. The city is always crowded; during certain times of the year it can become difficult to even walk: that would be before Christmas time. Ardale is a town that takes care of itself. The military here is light because not many people cause trouble. It's actually stupid to cause trouble here because most people are skilled. This town is often called the “Town Of Many Uses”. It is useful. People from all around, neutral, good, evil, human, demon, angel, elf, and vampire all come through here with zero intention of causing problems because this is where you find the person or thing you want.

    Population: Constantly Fluctuating
    Crime Rate: Light
    Military: Very Light

    CAYDALE

Caydale seemed to be a town full of horrible luck. Over a span of ten years the town was struck with multiple disasters. Homes, shops, and other buildings were completely destroyed. The first time was a dragon attack. Then a tornado swept through the land a couple years later. After that a Dark Guild attacked and the criminals from Grandview decided to use their home as a meeting spot. With these troublesome events, what was once a town of five hundred thousand dwindled down to a mere fraction of it's former glory. Even then, bad luck struck again when a strange illness plagued their children. Many died and most fell into despair. About six years ago, this all stopped when a band of Arcanists showed up and began bringing the town out of darkness. This became the new home of the Noir. The town is mostly made up of small buildings. Homes are made up of stone and wood at the moment, but they're slowly building up. The Noir are looked to for guidance and protection at all times.

    Population: Around 5,000
    Crime: Medium
    Guild: The Noir
    Military: Light

    DAYWOOD:

Daywood is the village of retired adventurers. This village is located within the forest of White Dawn Forest, located West of the Poisoned Weald. It is a small haven for those who want a quiet and peaceful life. Daywood is where those who used to crave adventure and exploration have decided to settle down and have a family. The people of this town are very family oriented. They are also very protective of each other, having created bonds through the one thing they have in common: their love for adventure and choices to settle down with family.

The village is nicely packed between the trees of the White Dawn Forest. They only cut down what they need to build and leave the rest to grow like it should. The town does sit on top of a small, but profitable gold mine. The men who are not working construction, farms, or hunting, work in the mine.

    Population: Slight Fluctuation; Around 10,000
    Crime Rate: Light
    Military: Light

    Desert Sky

Desert Sky is one of the strangest towns in Arcadia. Similar to Aria, the city is surrounded by a massive wall that is heavily guarded. This city was built around the same time as Aria and was founded by four Head Families: Drago, Janowski, Hayashi, and Hatakeyama. Within this city these noble clans hold authority. Though they do abide by most Arcadian Laws, they have their own government and do not recognize the ADL/AA's authority within the walls. If The ADL or AA wish to arrest someone inside their city, they must get permission from two out of three of the Family's by talking to their leaders. The ADL and AA can be compared to the authority of a security guard at a mall. They're not really respected and people constantly second guess their decisions. The government within Desert Sky is similar to the Arcadian Government anyways. The Head's of the Three Noble Families make the decisions, create the laws, and each train/control different Squads of the city's army.

The Drago control "The Guard". The Guard act as the cities main police force. They guard the wall and the people in the city. They keep the city safe in the here and now.

The Janowski control "The Legion". The Legion are the true army. They're the ones who go to war if they're called on. They keep the city safe in major crisis.

The Hayashi control "The Elite". The Elite are a very small group of people that guard Desert Sky's biggest secrets. They keep the city safe behind closed doors and from the shadows.

The Hatakeyama control nothing now. They were destroyed years 16 ago, leaving only two survivors: Kanna and Kaminari Hatakeyama. Kanna was killed in an "accident" three years after that.

There are a few 'minor' clans. These clans do not hold any authority over laws and things along those lines, but each clan does have something special about them. Sometimes it's a bloodline power, large amount of money/reputation/influence, or even a very good/profitable skill set. These clans are: Minamoto, Taira, Fujiwara, and used to be Tachibana. The Tachibana were destroyed 7 years ago after a rogue Arcanist of their own slaughtered them in the night.

"The Academy" is a highly qualified and extremely strict school that teaches it's students to fight and survive as a member of one of the previously stated squads. Upon graduation, students will be placed in their correct station. Most students dream of joining The Elite, but it's almost too difficult to get into. The requirements are almost impossible to meet, so this is rare. It's also thought that The Elite do not really exist since no one is noted to have joined. In reality, no one but the Head of the Clans will know who they are. It's very secretive, though the villagers are unaware of why.

    DRAGON SCALE RUINS:

These ruins are massive and have yet to be fully explored. This gargantuan tomb is half above ground and half below it. It is difficult to say exactly how far these ruins go, but so far it reaches up to 10 square miles and there is more to be discovered. There are hundreds of rooms that have not been opened, hundreds of traps that have not been found, disabled, or triggered. Legends of all kinds roam through Arcadia about what many treasures lie in the depths of the Dragon Scales, but not many choose to go down there. There is even a legend saying that a secret entrance guarded by powerful magics is what hides the Legendary Black Dragon, Endellion himself.

The ruins are old and slowly deteriorating over time. The decided age at the moment is somewhere around 8,000 years old, but Arcanists, Scientists, and Historians all over the world still argue this. The ruins are covered in carvings that are hard to understand. Some of these carvings are of people worshiping dragons, while others are being eaten by them, and others are even hunting down and killing them. A single conclusion has been drawn from this: These ruins were once a place of worship for dragons, but humans decided to rise against them over time.

Dragon Scale Ruins are legally a landmark and no construction of any kind is allowed within twenty miles of the site, beyond government regulated buildings for the guards who watch over the place. This was done because people want to see exactly how large this temple is and discover it's history and secrets before accidentally destroying half of what could be down there through meaningless construction.

Population: Constant Fluctuation; 10-200 depending on time of year.
    Crime Rate: Heavy
    Military: Medium

    HILLFORT:

Hillfort is like the name says, a fort. The city was built to be extremely sturdy, able to hold off massive armies for weeks before it could be taken down. The city is also where the main forces of Arcadia actually train for battle. Although Arcadia has Rydian Academy, you can also learn to hone your combat magic here. Sword fighting, archery, spear fighting, knife throwing, armor training, and many other ways of combat are taught through out the many combat schools in Hillfort. The Lord/Lady of Hillfort is similar to a President. Although they don't have to be commanding their officers, nor do they have to actually battle, if they choose to do so they can.

The city is known for it's blacksmiths, weapon enchanters, and alchemists.

Population: Constantly Fluctuating; Around 1.2 million
    Crime Rate: Light
    Military: Extremely Heavy

    Arcadian Environmental Items List

Ariac Marble: (Ah-ree-ick) A marble only found in the mountains that surround Aria. It is extremely rare, only found within this very mountain range. The marble is as white as snow and originally no different than marble. To use it, you apply extreme heat to it, making it flexible and easy to reform. Once it's in the shape desired, you cool it at a rapid rate and it hardens to be no different than the strongest of steel.

Eronthra: (Eh-Ron-Ther-Uh) This beautiful flower is found in the Forests of Arcadia and does not need sunlight to survive. In fact, it survives better at night. It's petals have a major use in the medical field, being able to cure the venom of the Viridescent Forest Snake. The flower is also used in other antidotes and medicines that relieve pain. Queen Aranhartte also keeps a garden full of these for emergency reasons.

Oronga: The Oronga is a deliciously sweet fruit that is found all over Arcadia. The outside is as seen in the picture, but the inside is actually either a light pink color or a light blue color. If you find an Oronga with more red than green, then the inside will be light pink. If you find an Oronga with more green that red, then the inside will be light blue. The light pink is known for it's ability to relieve a person of a cold and any cold symptoms with a few minutes of eating it. The blue has the same effect except for fever and vomiting: flu symptoms.

Jirany: The Jirany is actually one of the most delicious fruits in Arcadia. It's extremely juicy, sweet, and has a watermelon-like center. The problem is... It's poisonous. After eating it, people will normally have allergic reactions. Usually the face will swell a lot, making it hard to see and talk. It'll last for at least a day before it begins to go down. If it gets really bad, it is possible for the throat to even swell until it the person can no longer breathe. The antidote to this is drinking a medicine that is mixed with Oronga Juice and the petals of the Eronthra.

Any guild listed here is considered a legal/light guild. They are approved of and supported by the Arcadian Administration, also disciplined by them if things get crazy. They are in order from most popular to least popular. (And no, this is not counting how many characters have applied, but how popular and well-known the guild is IN character.)

    1. Aria Grand (Aria)
    2. ????
    3. The Invisible Knights (Ardale)
    4. Raven's Flight (Varedia)

    Arcadian Traditions, Holidays, and Superstitions

    Traditions

Acqua Pulita Festival (Clean Water Festival): April 30th

This is a large festival that takes place in White Water Village. When the village was originally founded, the water was tainted with disease. No one knows how or why it was this way, but after a few skilled Arcanists came, the water was cleaned and forever purified. It’s said that living of the water in White Water can extend your life.

The festival lasts 7 days. On each day, there is some sort of performance. On the seventh day, there is always a play put on by the festivals committee. Throughout the week the festival lasts, there is some sort of competition or tournament with prizes varying from vacations, luxury items, and money. There are many food stalls, mini-contests, and the town shops have everything on sale.

Some of the contests and events include: eating, dance, talent, archery, and beauty competitions. There are races both on and off the water.

    Holidays

Giorno Della Famiglia (Family Day): November 2nd

This holiday celebrates the God Kalo and Goddess Milani. On this day, families come together to celebrate their lives and be thankful for each other. This does not always mean blood relatives either. Kalo and Milani are the God and Goddess of Love, Unity, and Family. Obviously adopted families are a part of this, but are actually celebrated more than blood relatives because of the act of choosing someone. Some families dislike this holiday because of the implication about blood related families, but the message of love and unity still stands strong within most Arcadians. It is tradition to give a single gift to each family member.

    Superstitions

The Lover’s Moon: It isn’t set on a certain day, but when a certain event occurs. In Arcadia, up to 20 times per year, the moon will shine a brilliant red. Some say the aurora borealis has something to do with it, while others feel the gods change its color. Either way, it is said that if someone finds a form of love on this day, the relationship is blessed and destined to succeed. Success comes differently.

Meeting on the night of the Lover’s Moon gives a greater chance at love at first sight.

A date means the relationship has a strong chance of flourishing.

A first kiss means a marriage is destined between the two.

A night of making love is the conception of a child.
