"So, you thought you could just sneak into Theoria without being seen, eh?" Adrian's eyes flickered from side to side, looking at the two men in front of him with a worried expression. "Some gangly kid like you--even armed with such primitive weapons. Looks like we have an easy way to get you into the prisons, y'know." A long sigh escaped the mouth of the young man, dressed in a black cloak. He stared quietly at these men for a few more seconds, gauging their reactions to his presence. They all seemed relatively confident in themselves, especially since he wasn't that large a person, and they were all dressed in their nice uniforms with their weaponry. He sighed quietly, taking a single step back and warily eyeing their positions. If he didn't react soon, they'd probably take him down in a manner of moments, and the job would be a bust. They needed him, whether they'd want to admit it or not.

It was rare that an Arcanist would join a mercenary corps, even rarer that someone would join one wielding a family heirloom. But not only had Adrian done so, he'd also proven himself as a completely capable fighter over the years. The fact that he'd been brought on a mission like this meant that someone, somewhere, was worried about losing a fee. That said, he wasn't to be involved directly in the fighting--instead, he was simply here to clear a path and pick up a package. He was to open up a path for his buddies to get in and out without being too noticeable--they would handle the rest. It was a pretty large payout though--he'd be receiving five grand for a job well done. Five grand didn't come around often.

"C'mon, kid, we don't have all day. Just be nice and let us take you in. The jailor's lovely this time of year." The men prepared themselves to draw their weapons, reaching down to their hips with the same sadistic grins. Without any form of warning, they felt shocks on their arms, and when they looked up they widened their eyes. Standing before them was the same young man in the same black cloak. However, in his hands were a pair of swords, one green and one black. Electricity crackled down the blades of the weapons, and the youth's eyes were shining with a want for battle.

"Come at me." The two guards, who were a bit shocked by now, stepped out of their positions and charged at Adrian simultaneously. He chuckled quietly, lunging forwards and cutting at them both with an equal rate of speed. His ambidexterity became obvious in this situation, with each hand moving with an equal amount of finesse. Within moments, they dropped to the ground--not dead, but certainly out of the picture. As he sheathed his blades, a large black shadow moved past him--a shadow made up of multiple men. His job done, he vanished from the scene as quickly as possible. He needed to head to the drop-off point.

Eventually, he would reach the point via a specific path. Along this path were several small groups of guards that required dispatching--nothing too major, and certainly not too much of a threat. He was used to fighting multiple enemies like this by now, and these guys weren't very well-trained--or if they were, he'd taken them by surprise. The drop-off point was at the Southern edge of Zakat, since the location he needed to reach in the end was Cieria. As he trudged into a small hut by a crossroads, he wondered what this package was going to be. The number of men sent in was larger than he was used to seeing, especially for a pick-up. Whatever it was... it was probably quite valuable.

    A Bothersome Transfer [Closed] Amelia2_zpsd5657bb6

It wasn't long after she waved by to the woman who saved her life that everything turned to hell again. It was obvious that her attackers were not willing to fight the woman and her many guards. Instead, they waited everything out, and almost like they had things planned, the moment that Emperor Tsubine left, they attacked. Without any real warning, Amelia and the two guards that were left by her side were pulled into battle. Amelia was already weak and extremely tired, even though she had been given some sustenance a few minutes ago. She fought along side the guards to the best of her ability, they much more skilled than she. Still, there was no way they could get out of this. "Run!" one of the guards yelled to her, "Get to the city!" That's right, Theoria was not far off. They couldn't attack when there were hundreds of guards in the city, right?! Right! But the men who were protecting her. They could be killed all because of her. She started to run and stopped for only a moment to try and help, but decided against it and ran anyway. Unfortunately, that moment of hesitation ruined her chances. "No you don't!" a man grabbed her by her hair and pulled, no threw her back towards the rest. "Milady!!" one of the guards yelled, only calling her that because their Emperor had ordered them to guard her. Amelia was immediately restrained by three strong men the moment she was thrown into their clutches. The distraction caused the guards to each be struck hard enough to knock them out. Assuming that the guards were dead, the men taped her mouth shut, tied her hands behind her back, and bound her legs. They threw her over the back of a horse and laughed as they began riding south, speaking of some sort of escort as they did so.

It was about six, no seven days since Amelia was captured. Again, she had not eaten much. They gave her bread and water to survive, allowing a single piece of meat two days ago. It was obvious they wanted her weak. When she's at decent strength, she is able to put up much more of a fight. "Ah. There it is." the leader of the pack said, "Stay here while I confirm the escort." Amelia opened her eyes and struggled to raise her head, but she was able to catch a glimpse of a small hut that stood alone in the middle of this forest. Amelia watched as the leader of these men entered the hut and dropped her head again, hanging it from the side of the horse.

A large man, leader of the group who were arriving with the package stepped into the hut and looked around. When his eyes caught sight of a small boy, at least in comparison, he mentally questioned the people he worked for. "You're the escort? You're a small one, aren't ya?" he said quite casually, "Do you have the paper?" He could almost feel the venom in the glare that he was given back, as the youth got to his feet and placed his hands into his pockets. "Yeah, I've got it right here." A small sheet of papyrus was brought out of his pocket and handed back over to the guy, who would study it for a few seconds to verify its authenticity. "Well alright then. One moment!" the man nodded to the young one and walked out of the hut...

Amelia gasped in shock, her heart skipping a beat when she was suddenly pulled off of the back of the horse and tossed over a man's shoulder. She let out an annoyed groan. "Yeah, yeah... shut up girl." the man said and walked her over to the hut. The two of them entered and the next thing she knew, Amelia was thrown off of his shoulder and landed quite harshly on the ground below. Her body curled up a bit in pain as she opened her eyes and looked up, seeing this escort that they had been speaking of. "Alright. There's your package. She's not our problem now." the man laughed and turned heel, walking out of the hut, and over to his horse. The man questioned nothing and said nothing more to either of them. He and his men merely mounted their horses and ran off into the forest, leaving Amelia bound and in the care of this guy that didn't look much older than she. Amelia merely watched him, her eyes narrowed in anger, waiting to see what he was going to do.

"Careful, now..." He whispered with an air of caution, slowly stepping from foothold to foothold and keeping an eye out for any twigs that could give away his position. His target was in sight; the grand stag was certainly not too young anymore, but not so old that its meat would be too tough for consumption. Each step was placed with as much caution as possible, as he had no intention of disturbing the beast from its ministrations. Swallowing back a small amount of spittle, he finally found himself close enough to the deer to be able to kill it in one leap. With no small amount of cautious behaviour, Adrian crouched into a lunging position and jumped into the air, closing the distance between himself and the creature almost instantly. It noticed him and tried to run, but it was too late: Adrian had already latched on and produced a small hunting knife from a pouch on his hip, quickly and cleanly slicing its throat open. A quick check on the position of the sun determined that there were still four hours until he had to meet the drop-off. He would need to gut the creature there. Laying it down on its side, Adrian momentarily bowed his head before driving the knife into the belly of the deer.

Four hours later, the man that he was expecting almost waltzed into the hut with an expression of disgust on his face. He looked down at Adrian, not expecting someone so young. "You're the escort? You're a small one, aren't ya?" he said quite casually, "Do you have the paper?" Adrian glared at the man with a venomous gaze, taking a few seconds to size him up mentally before reaching into his pocket with a sigh. Yeah, I've got it right here." He fumbled for a moment with the tiny piece of papyrus, but pulled it out and handed it over, confirming his identity to this man. "Well alright then. One moment!" He walked out of the hut.

"Well, that went easier than I expected it to." Adrian let out a sigh of relief; he was expecting more resistance than that. Honestly, he wondered just how valuable this package was--especially if it was going to net him five grand. He could almost smell the coins now. Chuckling and thinking about just what he'd do with so much money, he almost didn't notice the girl being pushed in through the door. When she came in, she would've probably noticed the scent of the venison stew, cooking over the open fire. He noticed her beauty almost immediately, but didn't change his expression. They were handling her quite roughly. Thugs, the lot of them. She was thrown onto the ground--Adrian withheld himself from flinching. "Alright. There's your package. She's not our problem now." A laugh, and the bastard left. Adrian let out another long sigh, just watching the girl on the ground for a few seconds.

So, this young lady was the package? A kidnapping. No wonder it was worth so goddamn much. He studied her carefully, looking down from her pretty--and angry--eyes, past the curvature of her lips and towards the rest of her body. She really didn't look much older than he did. He took those precious few seconds to determine whether or not she'd pose much of a threat. And honestly, she didn't appear to. She was just like any other girl his age--maybe a little bit battle-trained, but other than that, kind of helpless in such a situation. Determining from her expressions that she was weak and hungry, he got to his feet and shook his head. "Great, a kidnapping. I've stolen, I've mugged, I've even killed--but I've never taken a live human to another place. This doesn't sit right." Shaking his head some more, Adrian turned on his heel and wandered towards the stewing meat, taking a bowl in one hand, and a ladle in the other. He lifted the lid off and took in the smell for a moment, breathing in with a smile.

"Do you eat venison? Well, it doesn't matter if you don't--this is all I've got to eat, other than the stale bread we'll be dipping into it." He took a ladle of the meaty broth and spooned it into the bowl, making sure to almost totally fill it up with subsequent takings. He took this first bowl to the small, two-person table and placed it on the wood, before redoing the actions with a second bowl. A couple of spoons were produced and placed on the table, and then a bowl in the middle had several hard buns placed into it to finish it off. After this was finished, Adrian turned towards the girl and sighed.

"Look, I know I'm supposed to keep you under wraps or ties or something, but you are another human being. I'll give you something to eat and release your restraints--if you make sure not to run away when I do so. I'm not slow on the updraw with my sword, and I don't believe that I need to return you to Cieria with both legs." He reached up behind him and clutched one of the hilts on his back with a sneer, making sure that she knew he meant business. Honestly, freeing her to let her eat was probably a mistake. But he was confident enough in his speed and her fear that he'd be able to take her down if she tried anything funny. Slowly approaching her, he got down onto one knee and cut away at anything restraining her, grumbling about the rough treatment she'd received, and then leading her towards her seat. When he'd gotten her down, he moved over to his own seat and started to quietly eat his meal, keeping one eye on her the entire time...

Amelia glared at who ever this boy was with an intense amount of anger. She stared at him, her eyes attempting to pierce what she assumed to be a false demeanor. He's just a kid, around her own age. There was no way he was some sort of brute or killer, even if he had just said that he was. She just pushed those thoughts out of her mind and continued to stare at him. "Mmm!!! Mmmm! Mm!!!" she said in reply to his question. It wasn't like she could answer now, could she? She had tape covering everything from the very bottom of her nose, down to the curve of her chin, and going to each of her ears. How exactly was she supposed to answer him? Oh right, he didn't care! His next 'it doesn't matter' statement pretty much confirmed that. It took all she had, which really wasn't much, to roll her eyes at him. Yeah, she didn't fight it. She quite blatantly rolled her eyes at his question. He couldn't see it of course, he was busy making the food. Amelia looked around for a moment and realized something. "Where the fuck is my sword?!" she thought and her eyes widened when she realized those brutes who brought her here still had it on the back of that horse. Angry, she began thrashing her body around, trying to loosen the binds she had on her wrists and legs. The boy suddenly looked towards her and she stopped moving. She just glared at him again. Yeah, she was right. He was offering her food? No way in hell he was a brute or fighter, nope. She refused to believe it. Every other person that she has ever come across in her life was harsh, cruel, and uncaring.

He stepped towards her and Amelia rolled away until her back hit the side of the hut. She somehow pushed herself up into a sitting position and just stared at him. Whether she believed him to be a brute or not didn't matter. He was the one taking her back to that place. She was never going to willingly go back there. Her backing away from him didn't seem to bother. She pushed her body harder into the wall of the hut as if she were trying to get away, but obviously did not budge. Amelia's eyes widened when he brought a knife behind her back. She waited for the sting, but instead felt her arms freed. Looking at him as if he were crazy, she watched him cut the ropes on her ankles as well. "What?" she thought as she began removing the tape from her own mouth. She glanced over to the table, "He's really going to let me eat?" He was something else. Amelia couldn't fight the urge to glance over to the hut door though. She wanted to escape, but there was no way that she could unless she was able to function; she needed to eat. Slowly, she moved over to the table and picked up the spoon. "Mm..." was the sound she made when she realized it was hard to grip. Yeah, it was a good thing she chose to eat instead of run. If she had run to get her sword, there would be no way of fighting off the men who had it. It took a lot of effort, but she was finally able to get a few bites in. The food wasn't bad. She enjoyed it enough to not hesitate for a few more bites. While she ate, she kept her eyes on the boy in front of her, her eyes narrowed as he watched her so closely. "The moment I have any strength in me... I'm out of here." she thought, continuing to eat until the bowl was empty.

For the first few minutes, he ate silently. He wasn't sure if she was going to bail on him the moment he looked another way, so he continued to ensure her stay by remaining vigilant. He couldn't let pointless talking get in the way. But as he ate, he watched her more--his eyes scanned the features of her face: her rebellious amber eyes, her long soft brown locks, and the slightly damp lips... A couple of thoughts got in the way of his eating, so he quickly moved his gaze back up to her eyes to distract himself from those mini-daydreams. She was a mark, no more, no less. He had to cleanse himself of all emotional attachments to a target, and instead focus on it as if it were an object. He was allowing her to eat so that she did not fall over and die from hunger or exhaustion halfway to Cieria. He could've let her stay tied up, but he realized that if he were to make a trip that long, he would most certainly need to keep her on her feet. Carrying her would be even more tiring and probably stop him from doing his job correctly.

However, he just couldn't stop his brain. Although the less savory thoughts had finally faded into obscurity, he still had to deal with wondering. What was she wanted for? Was she a criminal? No, that wouldn't be right--she looked far too cute and young to be hauled back to Cieria by a group of mercs. Then maybe she had run away from there for other reasons... a princess, something like that. He questioned the reasoning, and wondered if something like this was really necessary. She had seemed hesitant to want to go anywhere with anyone--though you'd do that when you were kidnapped like this. Really, moving humans was different to moving normal cargo. You didn't wonder how cargo felt. You didn't question the motives. You just had to do your job, no matter the cost. If he let his human element and take over, he would probably end up letting her free. If he did that, then there might not be a chance for him to live--he'd have to go back home, and in the end... he'd lose her. He'd lose that sister of his to her illness. Shaking his head and sighing, he took in a few more bites of the stew until his spoon scraped the base of the bowl. He was still hungry, so he got to his feet and quickly refilled his bowl, keeping one eye on her and standing between her and the door at all times.

"So..." He finally broke the awkward tension, "Why?" Was all that he could ask. He didn't know how else to put it--how exactly do you ask a person about why they've been kidnapped, especially when you're taking her to a drop-off zone? He was confused, worried and a little bit scared all in one package. "I-I mean... why do they want you?" He stuttered a little too, further dropping the illusion that he was some tough emotionless killer. So much for that one.

Amelia did not ask for seconds. She finished the bowl given and stared at him. She had finished so much faster than him that she stared at him for quite some time, purposely trying to make him uncomfortable. Her stare was both dull and full of hate. She imagined doing something to harm him over and over again just because he was the type of person to take on this sort of mission. "How pathetic." she thought to herself, her eyes narrowing more at him while he got another bowl of food. She could make a break for it now and was quite tempted to do so, but she knew that her body had yet to recuperate. The matter of her sword was bothering her as well. She needed to find it. It was precious to her, so there was no way she was going to leave it in the possession of those disgusting brutes. "But how?" she thought, noticing how he kept putting himself between her and the only point of escape. Her thoughts were broken when he finally opened his mouth to break the uncomfortable tension between them. "Why what?" Amelia asked with narrowed eyes. He explained himself and stuttered while doing it. "Tough guy my ass." she thought and rolled her eyes at him, this time where he could see it. "I can't believe they sent someone like you after me. You're not very much older, if not the same age, as I am." Amelia glanced away from him, looking towards the wall, "I swear I'll get free, and when I get back to Zakat I'm reporting everything. When I do that, those bastards will never see me again."

"And you..." Amelia turned her head back towards him, her eyes attempting to pierce him with her anger, "You're pathetic. Asking me why? I'll tell you why... Those assholes you're working for want me back because of how many secrets of theirs I know. They fear me running to an authority of some kind and bringing all hell down on them. Congratulations on aiding a bunch of child abusers, kidnappers, and slave drivers. I'm sure your family is proud of what you've chosen to become." Amelia pushed herself to her feet and stretched by raising her arms in the air and leaning back. As she did, you could hear a small pop sounding coming from her back as well. "Damn horse... Kept me on that thing the entire ride." Amelia said as she rubbed her back. She looked to him once more and blinked once. "Now if you'll excuse me, the Emperor of Zakat is waiting for my appointment in the Capital. I'd prefer not to make them worry." Amelia said and began walking quite casually out of the hut. If she were to some how be let out, she'd look up and down the pathway, paying attention to the tracks of the horses and head down in that direction to follow them. Her mission was to find her sword and then return to Zakat. That was it.

This girl was attempting to make him uncomfortable with her stares while he continued to eat; to be honest, it was working to its own degree. While Adrian dealt with uncomfortable situations usually, this one was different for some reason. Whether it was because he was being made uncomfortable by this girl whom he was taking to be potentially beaten, tortured or even killed--or his own conscience--he didn't know. All he knew was that he was having an issue with how this was happening for him. After asking his questions to her, he finally finished his second helping and placed the bowl on the ground, the utensil clattering on the edge with a loud noise.

"I can't believe they sent someone like you after me. You're not very much older, if not the same age, as I am. I swear I'll get free, and when I get back to Zakat I'm reporting everything. When I do that, those bastards will never see me again." She wasn't giving him a straight answer. The fact that she mentioned his age meant that she had no respect for him, or his prowess as a warrior. That pissed him off. Sneering lightly at her response, he continued to stare at her, almost willing her to reply to his wants. Tell me. Tell me why. Please. Her next words pierced him more than any blade had ever done in his life. "You're pathetic. Asking me why? I'll tell you why... Those assholes you're working for want me back because of how many secrets of theirs I know. They fear me running to an authority of some kind and bringing all hell down on them. Congratulations on aiding a bunch of child abusers, kidnappers, and slave drivers. I'm sure your family is proud of what you've chosen to become."

"K..." He raised his hands up into his gaze, not sure what to think at that moment. This entire time, he had been doing this for his family. This entire time, he had been doing this to give her the life that she'd always need. Her beautiful face appeared in his vision for less than a second, vanishing into darkness. He heard her voice calling his name, but her words and manner slowly changed--"Adrian, Adrian, Adri--use me, the Emperor of Zakat is waiting for my appointment in the Capital. I'd prefer not to make them worry." His stupor was broken, and Adrian's head snapped up into position. He saw her up from her seat now and walking past him, preparing to leave him behind no matter what. He sighed, and considered the possibilities as he turned his head and sneaked a glimpse at her body from behind. Was he really prepared to let her be taken away by those men? She didn't look like she was going to go without getting revenge on them--if this was the case, then she was in for a difficult time. They would most likely stop her and just drag her off to Cieria themselves--or maybe they'd just execute her on the spot. Either way, he'd be in the shit. But could he stop her? No, he couldn't.

Sighing again, Adrian got to his feet and finally spoke a coherent word: "Stop! Just... stop. They'll kill you. They're not so forgiving of runaways, since it shows them to be bad workers. Also, they'd kill me too," he chuckled, "I can't forget myself in this situation. So instead, I'll make an offer: I help you do whatever, and get to where you need to be, and you help me find a certain shrine in Zakat. I never really liked this job anyway; there are better ways to help Kaela  than blood money. Especially the blood of someone my age." He sighed softly, shaking his head. "Frankly, it's a bother. I'll be a marked man. They know nothing of my family, but it's possible that they'll find out. But..." He made sure that his two blades were in the correct places on his back, "They don't matter as much as my sister. I'm a monster, but not that much of one." Strange, he thought. He could've made this change of heart much more difficult; but he'd never really been convinced of this position anyway. Guess it was time for a change. Looking at her seriously, he held out his hand.

"Do we have a deal, Miss...?"

Amelia came to a stop as he finally spoke out to her. She didn't look to him; instead, she listened to what he had to say. This deal he offered didn't seem too bad; she would get his help and be able to return to Zakat. It really sounded like a win-win situation. "That was easy..." Amelia thought as she turned back to him. She glanced him up and down, trying to see him in a different light. "Kaela?" was her first reply. She ignored his hand for a few moments, hoping for some sort of explanation about the name. Of course, whatever was his reply, hers would stay the same. She would reach out, take his hand in hers, and firmly shake it. "Fine. I guess it doesn't sound too bad." Amelia said before she removed her hand from his, "I figured you weren't some heartless bastard. I assume Kaela is the reason you do things like this in the first place?" Amelia's question was a little personal, but she wasn't in the state of mind to care; she was dirty, tired, and dehydrated. Sure, she was given some food by this young man, but she hadn't been given shit for the few days before. It was going to take a while for her strength to get back to normal. "You should stop it." Amelia said to him quite bluntly, "Even if you're helping someone else that you care about... If they care about you at all and find out that you've been doing horrible things to many people just to help them... if they are a decent person at all, they won't see you in the same light they did before. Someone they look up to, admire, and cherish can easily become a monster in their eyes... It'll be best if you get some honest work over doing things like this."

"Anyways..." Amelia took in a deep breath and slowly let it out, "I am in no position to lecture you on such matters. I have given my advice and you will do with it what you want. For now, I will help you find this shrine as long as you keep your promise to me. Now let's head in that direction." Amelia pointed down the way, knowing that was where her sword was, "I know I should have put a fucking recall enchantment on there... It would have been so much easier!" Amelia glanced to him once more and then turned down the path towards the men who have her sword. For now, she would just walk until she caught up with them. Knowing those brutes, which she did, they would stop about two miles down the road for food, water, and rest. "We have an hour and a half before they get moving. They won't leave the path, so it's best we get there soon." Amelia told him, quickening her pace a bit, "Only one will be on watch, so once we find them, we should take him out as soon as possible... And then just run. I know I can't fight them, so... it's best not to go up against them like this..." It should have been obvious that Amelia wasn't exactly 'fresh'. She was dirty, sweaty, and it wouldn't be shocking if she didn't smell very nice. The poor girl desperately wanted a bath, but that wasn't going to happen any time soon. She wanted her sword.

"You should stop it." His expression darkened slightly at the tone that he'd been given, and he watched her through lowered eyes with a questioning gaze. Should he? What was the point? He didn't have any other way of finding out how he could help his sister; this was really one of the only ways he could see. Was he so blind that he just couldn't find out any other way to get through this without hurting anybody? He felt her skin touch his and swallowed lightly--her hand was as soft as his sister's was. He found himself just standing there, dazed and wondering what was happening with his life for him to be so touched by the mere feeling of another human's skin against his. "Even if you're helping someone else that you care about... If they care about you at all and find out that you've been doing horrible things to many people just to help them... if they are a decent person at all, they won't see you in the same light they did before. Someone they look up to, admire, and cherish can easily become a monster in their eyes... It'll be best if you get some honest work over doing things like this." He swallowed back his bile for a second, shaking his head and staring back at her.

"I..." "Anyways... I am in no position to lecture you on such matters. I have given my advice and you will do with it what you want. For now, I will help you find this shrine as long as you keep your promise to me. Now let's head in that direction." He folded his arms lightly, turning his eyes to follow in the direction that she had pointed. He didn't know much about this area; but he had read that there was a nearby tavern--about two miles down the track. Her movements in that direction meant that she had assumed so much as well. He chuckled lightly and followed behind her, watching her movements with a trained eye.

"We have an hour and a half before they get moving. They won't leave the path, so it's best we get there soon." He nodded but didn't speak. "Only one will be on watch, so once we find them, we should take him out as soon as possible... And then just run. I know I can't fight them, so... it's best not to go up against them like this..." He shook his head at that one, quickening his own pace slightly to match steps with her and placing his hands casually in his pockets.

"If you're looking for any specific item--which I think you are--then it'll have been labelled as a spoil of war. And as I know these guys, I know that they do with spoils of war. They put them in a bag that stays near the Head Honcho the entire time. If that's the case, then just taking one guy out, nabbing the item and running will not work so easily. We'll have to get in the middle of them and nab the item--maybe even the entire bag, since there'll be a bit of stuff in there. They're stolen goods, yes, but the owners of the items are either dead, or..." He motioned his head towards her, "Looking for a bit of vengeance. As such, we're probably going to have to fight them all. Luckily, that's why I'm here." He laughed softly and staggered his step so that he was ahead of her by a small margin. "I'll be the distraction. I can fight them off long enough for you to get the back and what you need--putting my body on the line to protect yours is the least I can do in this situation." His expression was serious. He needed to make up for his transgressions.

"Well, I'm obviously not as well versed in the ways of criminals as you are, so I guess we'll go with your plan." Amelia said innocently, though her words came out with bitterness. They were insulting, yes. Amelia had merely not thought about what she was saying before she said it. The rest of the walk, Amelia would keep herself quiet. She wasn't very fond of the idea of losing energy, so she didn't spend any. She was already tired, weak, dirty, and achy because of her previous treatment. She needed a damn break from all of this. It wasn't too long that they finally arrived. They had passed the original point that Amelia thought she would have caught up with them and found a small tavern with the purpose of aiding travelers. When Amelia spotted the horses that she had practically memorized on her ride here, she knew that it was them. "How the hell are we going to get inside without causing too much trouble? A place like this, I doubt there are many inside; it'll just be the men we're looking for and who ever owns this god forsaken place."

"Lower your head..." Amelia mumbled to him as she approached the tavern. She did her best to be quiet, sneaking up to a window. As she got closer, the obnoxious laughter of the very men who hunted her was heard. She narrowed her eyes and slowly peaked over and into the window. She saw the man who owned the place, the men enjoying some beer and the company of a young woman who looked quite uncomfortable. "Disgusting bastards..." Amelia lowered herself from the window and mumbled in anger, "Poor girl's being bothered by them. I hate these assholes." Amelia thought as hard as she could. She hadn't seen the bag just yet, so she peaked up again and looked of more specific items. This guy was right; the leader had the bag right next to him. "Shit..." she cursed under her breath and sighed, "I was hoping this was going to be easier than having to use you as a distraction. Do not get yourself killed, I'll move in the moment I get the chance." Though it was obvious she didn't like him, she acknowledged him as a human and valued his life to a degree. She didn't want him getting killed doing this, and it showed in her tone of voice.

"Lower your head..." He chuckled softly and complied, walking towards the tavern alongside her with a practiced gait. Watching carefully out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a few stains of blood on the ground and goods that had been left behind in a rush--these men had definitely cleared the tavern out before taking it for themselves. Grimacing at the thought, Adrian leaned up against the wall beside Amelia and watched her. "Poor girl's being bothered by them. I hate these assholes." He sighed softly. He'd never liked them either--he'd made sure that it was a job, and only a job. Nodding to himself, he moved up and off of the wall, watching her look for the bag through the window. She'd seen it, and confirmed that it was with the leader--the man who had made the hand-over. "I was hoping this was going to be easier than having to use you as a distraction. Do not get yourself killed, I'll move in the moment I get the chance." At least she valued his life. Sorta. He breathed out and straightened up, making sure that both of his swords were in easy-to-produce positions.

"Give me five minutes. If I haven't called for you by then, I'm probably done for." Swallowing and nodding, he stepped forwards and placed a foot in front of the door--before turning to look at Amelia with a soft smile. "Thank you. You reminded me of who I am and what I'm supposed to be." Stepping through into the tavern, he swung open the door wide and strode over towards the group of men, sitting around the table and laughing amongst themselves. He grinned and placed a hand on the table, looking around them and laughing with them. A few of them expressed shock at his presence, but he waved a hand in response. "It's alright, guys, I'm just poppin' in for a drink. The girl's hidden away, hog-tied and gagged. She's not going anyway." The men were a little suspicious at first, but decided to accept this--so Adrian picked up one of the steins and raised it high into the air with a shout.

"Before I continue, I propose a toast!" The men muttered a little, but held onto their steins anyway, "A toast to what, you might ask. A toast, I say, to new beginnings! To a future, free from darkness and open to all! A new job, you might say," Their expressions darkened slightly as they realized what he was saying, "In short, a toast... to my leaving your company forever." With a resounding crack, the heavy wooden stein was brought down upon the head of the man directly to Adrian's right. He was knocked immediately unconscious, and the other five or so men got up and drew their weapons with scowls. Dropping the stein to his side and jumping backwards, Adrian drew both of the weapons off of his back, swinging them in his hands as they started to crackle with electricity.

    "Come at me."

With an inglorious howl, the first of the men charged directly for Adrian. A weapon was brought out and swung down at the lithe male, who swung around to the side and drove the edges of the weapons against his back, shocking him and causing him to fall to the ground in a crumpled heap. Charging himself this time, Adrian turned and ran at the next man in his view, jumping into the air and swinging with both swords at the same time. The attack was quickly blocked and Adrian knocked away, landing on his feet and sliding backwards a few steps. He grimaced and charged again, this time moving to the side slightly and attacking with staggered strikes. While the first hit was easily blocked, the second one came down at an angle that cut along his face. He shouted out and blindly attempted to return assault--Adrian took advantage of this by sliding below his strike with a grin, cutting at his legs and knocking him to the ground. Another hard hit would knock him out, leaving only two men left between Adrian and that bag.

Cockiness got the better of him, and he charged both of them at the same time, shouting out loudly as he did so. For a distraction, this was definitely turning out differently. He hoped that Amelia couldn't see this; he wasn't sure he wanted her to. Leaping onto the table, Adrian jumped into the air and flipped, diving over the men and landing between them and the bag carrying the spoils of war. He sneered at them, and both men dived towards him in order to take him out. A few swift strikes, and they were in pain but not out of the fight. He needed to take this chance now. Opening up the bag and rummaging through it, he found that there was only one sword within, carried inside a red sheath. He nodded to himself, re-sheathed his own weapons and pulled it out, running towards the door and barging it open, looking over at Amelia with a grin.

"Here, I got it back. Glad to be of assis--" His voice was cut off by the hand that gripped the back of his coat. His eyes opened wide, and he felt himself being pulled backwards, back into the tavern. A blade was held at the back of his neck, and a voice was telling him to let them take him inside, and that he would be kept alive if only to be tortured at their Hold. He blinked, swallowed and gave Amelia a look that told her, 'Help. Please.' Throwing the sword and sheathe towards her, he could only let out a few words before he was pulled back through the doors and into the tavern.

"Run... Sorry... Duskwall Hold... Lothe--" No more words could be said as he was dragged through the door and darkness overcame his eyes. His only hope now was that the beautiful young lady could get away without him. Their horses were open, and none of them would be able to catch her if she figured that out.

    ---

The darkness finally gave away to dismal walls of stone. A rat skittered past in front of him, and his head hung loosely as he regained consciousness. Looking down, he noticed that he was completely naked, chained to the wall and trapped in this hole. He finally raised his head and saw the visage of a masked man, holding a whip and grinning.

"I have all the time in the world to break you, kiddo. Let's get real acquainted, if you know what I mean..."

This was now how it was supposed to happen. He was supposed to be a distraction, lure them away, talk, instigate a little bit. No, he chose to go in and fight. Amelia listened to the sounds of the brawl from her space outside the tavern, her heart skipping a beat with every bang and shout. She glanced through the window again, just to see if he was still standing. He was, but she doubted he was going to be able to last. She watched him fight and soon two of them were knocked out. Amelia could tell that the guy was getting cocky when it happened as well. He leaped over them and grabbed onto the bag her sword was likely in. Amelia watched as he struck them multiple times; she winced as if it was her feeling the pain. "Yes!" she mentally cheered as he successfully got out. She ran over to the front of the Tavern, having been watching from the side, just in time to hear him be cut off. Before she revealed herself, she quickly jumped back around the corner and out of their site. She looked around, watching as they dragged him off. The look on his face shook her; he was practically begging for her help. He tossed her sword to the side, which went unnoticed by the men, and as he vanished into the darkness of the Tavern, Amelia stood there in silence.

"What do I do... What do I do!? What do I do!?!?" she thought multiple times, a single tear falling down her cheek. She raised her hands in front of her chest, feeling her heart race. "If I go... I could be killed, but... if I don't... he definitely will be." she glanced around and saw no one that could help her. That wasn't a shock; they were out in the middle of the forest. Amelia had a sudden burst of adrenaline and she ran towards her sword and back to the horses. She knew how to ride, so she could easily get out of here. It's not like he cared about her right? He wouldn't go in after her, would he? No, he wouldn't. She began untying the horse when she froze. There was nothing stopping her. Finally, she was free. Was her freedom really worth it if she attained it through the sacrifice of another who obviously needed her help? Amelia felt sick, tears fell, and she gripped her sword tightly. She acted as if she were going to throw it and then let out a muffled scream of anger. She dropped to her knees and took a few deep breaths. "God damn it!!" she thought and then took a deep breath, "I can't... I can't do it... I..." A quick flash of memory hit her mind; the image of a beautiful woman who did not hesitate to help her, even though she was nothing to her.

Amelia stood up with a new found determination, "I have to do it..." She unsheathed her sword and darted towards the Tavern. "I can't hesitate!!" Amelia violently pushed herself through the doors and looked towards two men who were slowly waking up. "If I do..." she darted towards them and cut off the firsts head before he even knew what was coming. "If I second guess a single action..." The second attempted to grab her, but she moved out of his way. He was too slow. "...I'LL DIE!" she raised her sword and stabbed the man through the back of the neck. Amelia removed her sword from his neck and sensed someone behind her. She turned to swing, but stopped when her blade came close to the neck of the woman who she had seen being tortured by the men. "Where is he?!" Amelia grabbed the woman's sleeve and she pointed towards a door. "D-Down there. They took him down there..." she pointed towards a thick wooden door behind the bar. Amelia walked towards it and placed her hand on the knob. She took a deep breath and opened it, charging in. There should only be those two, right? The final two men? No, there were four in sight, all lined up down a hall. The first instantly charged her, but he ran right into her sword.

"Ahh!" Amelia screamed in anger as she pushed the bastard off of her blade and brought it up to block the attack of another. The force of the attack was too much for her and she was pushed down. Luckily, the man wasn't expecting such weak defense and put enough force into it that his momentum threw him down as well. Unluckily, he fell on top of her. Amelia struggled a bit as they tried regaining composure, but he attempted to pin her wrist. He got her left, but as he reached for her right, she grabbed onto a dagger he had on his belt. A moment later, she stabbed him in the side of the neck. The other two, seeing their comrade killed, ran at Amelia as she pushed herself back to her feet. She didn't stay there long since she was smacked across the face, hard enough that it sent her flying into the wall and then back on her back. She still had her sword in hand, rarely ever letting go of it once she had it, and pointed it to his chest. He froze, unaware that it wasn't a normal sword. A bolt of electricity shot off from the tip and through the man's body. He fell. Amelia looked up to see the shot had hit the final man as well; he fell. Amelia, out of breath and tired again, just laid there for a few moments, trying to calm her heart and breathing.

"Get up and find him..." she told herself and struggled to her feet. Amelia hurried down this dark hallway, opening four doors along the way, but most of it was storage. She came to the final one and tried opening it, but it was locked. She wiggled the handle a bit and realized that this was it. He was behind this door. What was happening to him? She placed her ear against the door to listen, to see if she could get any hint of what was going on.

He didn't know how long it had been. For all he knew, it could have been days already--the pain was too great for him to properly understand time right now. There were red lines along his body, places where the man gleefully giggling in front of him had broken his skin, letting blood drip down his pale flesh and group into puddles around his feet. His form hung limply from the chains, and each breath that he took was ragged and drawn in deeply. His eyes were glazed over, barely registering the figure in front of him. All he knew right now was the pain. The masked man had, however, deigned to avoid his nether areas, trying to preserve his dignity. He would've appreciated that, were he not in mind-numbing agony.

Every strike drew more blood, produced more screams. He was certain that he was going to die if this went on for any longer. He couldn't respond to the man's questions, since every time he opened his mouth his tongue lulled out, keeping him from speaking. He tried to stop himself from crying out more, but there was nothing else for it. His eyes, though trying to remain vigilant, could not stop themselves from closing. He had to stop this, but there was nothing he could do. As this torturer danced around him and continuing to whip him upon his bare flesh, he would sing songs and tell tales. He was deriving enjoyment from this sick act, and there was nothing that Adrian could do in response. In the end, he could only ever let himself be tortured. In the end, he would take this punishment because of wanting to actually save someone.

    "Please... save yourself..."

The moment she placed her ear up against that wooden door she regretted it. The scream she heard coming from behind it, the sound of the whip, and the pain she could only imagine him feeling was something she could almost not bear. She felt her entire body jump, as if someone had jumped out from a corner and startled her. Anger boiled within her. She knew what she had to do, but now she wanted to do it. Amelia tightly clenched her blade, her own hand become sore from the tightness of the grip. She grabbed the door handle and opened it up. "Do not hesitate." she told herself, reassuring her actions before they were even done. The moment she opened the door, she saw the back of a large man and knew the one she was looking for was on the other side. She didn't have time for that. With two more steps forward, as the man turned around to see who had just interrupted his torture session, Amelia took her blade in both hands. With one swing of her sword, she swung at him. She almost couldn't feel the blade hit him, almost.

The man froze and so did she. A moment later, blood fell from a newly formed wound. Amelia narrowed her eyes and watched the top half of this bastards head slide off and fall. Soon, his large grotesque body fell along with it and Amelia's eyes widened. It had only been a few minutes and this much damage was dealt to him? Amelia hurried to his side and noticed he was held up by chains. She looked around and noticed a set of keys on the large man's belt and grabbed them. She went threw the keys until she found the right ones and released him. "Hey, can you stand?" Amelia asked, holding him up. At the moment, she was a little to concentrated on his wounds and getting the hell out of there to even notice the fact that he was naked. It was probably a good thing too, because if she had, she'd not be able to help him out with a clear mind. She did her best to hold him up, trying to keep him from falling into the dirt. "Everyone else is dead... We can go now... Come on." Amelia would say, trying to pull him to his feet, "We need to get you to a Doctor or something... Their horses are still out there."

They say that, when you are on the verge of death, everything appears to be a little bit different. For Adrian, the difference came when he watched his torturer slowly turn around to see what was coming through the door, and Adrian could've sword that the being on the other side was out of this world. It may have had something to do with the light from the room behind bursting out and reflecting outwards off of her white clothes. It may have had something to do with the fact that Adrian was completely delirious, maybe seeing things that weren't there. But at that moment, she was the most beautiful thing that he had ever seen coming into a room like that. Even as she shouted out and cut through the skull of the beast that had been torturing him, she lost none of her beauty. She was simply a Guardian Angel, coming to save him from the destruction of his body. She was here for him. She hadn't left him. He wasn't alone. He... wasn't alone.

As the body of his jailor fell to the ground, Amelia was seen rushing to his side and kneeling by him. He slowly lifted his head to meet her gaze, smiling weakly. "Hey, can you stand?" He fell to his knees once the chains had been released, and let out hacking coughs while he tried to get his breath back. He felt something support him from underneath, and slowly gathered enough strength to get to his feet, struggling through the pain. "Haah..." He let out another ragged breath, grimacing from the pain and trying to stand up on both feet without worry. "Everyone else is dead... We can go now... Come on. We need to get you to a Doctor or something... Their horses are still out there." He groaned and stood up straight now, shouting out in pain but enduring through it.

"Gotta get... swords and clothes. Blades are important... Then yes... Doctor. For both of us... I don't know... what happened with you. Go... take whatever valuables you can from them... it's bad, but necessary..." He grimaced as he took his first step forward and tried to find his clothing. Each step pained him, the cuts on his form screaming out with the motion and the cold air blowing against them. He stumbled, but regained his footing and started to hunt around the room for his own clothing--albeit kinda slowly. He'd catch up to Amelia once he was decent. Maybe he could find some bandages, or something to kill the pain that he felt. He hoped so, anyway.

"Bad? I don't give a fuck if it's bad. They're dead and look what they did to you! Go find your clothes, yell if you need my help." Amelia told him, cautiously letting him go and then hurrying away. She began rummaging through the different rooms. The first was where they stored their food. Amelia grabbed a bag and tossed a few fruits and vegetables in it. The next room was someone's bedroom, likely the woman that was out there. She glanced around a bit, rummaging through her things, and then sighed. She wasn't going to take her personal items, no. Amelia readjusted the back on her shoulder and hurried to the next room. With every passing moment, she listened carefully for any new intruders or for the guy to yell for her. It was odd for her to keep referring to him as 'the guy', but she didn't remember whether they had even exchanged names. She doubted, with their first encounter, that she would have remembered it if they had.

The final room seemed to be another type of storage room. She looked around at everything and noticed something colored red and white in the corner. She hurried over and sighed in relief when she saw it was a first aid kit. "He got lucky..." she said before looking around for a few more things and then turning around. She placed the first aid kit under her left arm, her sheathed sword in her left hand, and was holding the bag over her right shoulder. "Hey, are you ready?!" she called out down the hall way, "I'll be outside. Hurry up!" Amelia stepped out and was back in the bar. She glanced around at the destruction that was caused and sighed. The woman was sitting at a table, her back perfectly straight, and looking straight forward with a emotionless expression. For a while, Amelia could only stare at her. The woman didn't even seem to notice her. Sighing, Amelia walked up to her and set a hand on her shoulder. The woman flinched and looked up to Amelia.

"You should leave..." Amelia told her and the woman glared in reply, "There is no point in staying here. It's merely a blood coated battlefield now." Amelia told her, but the woman seemed to get angrier. The woman smacked Amelia's hand from her shoulder and stood up; she was a good five inches taller that Amelia was. "Leave? Everything I know and love is here!" she yelled at Amelia. "No, they're dead." Amelia said in a cold tone, trying to get a point across. "You've destroyed everything I have. My husband... my son... They're dead, all because of you and these brutes!" the woman continued yelling and Amelia just stood there, "I have nothing but this place... How can I just leave it?!" "How can you stay?" Amelia said and the woman looked at her in shock, as if she wasn't expecting such an answer. "You know nothing. You're just a child." the woman said in anger and turned away, waving her off, "You could never understand how it feels to lose your family, everything you love."

"You're definitely right about that." Amelia said in an uncaring tone and shrugged along with the statement. Readjusting her things again, she took in a deep breath and sighed it out. She turned away and began walking towards the front door. "You're right. I'll never understand what you feel right now." Amelia said with a small smile, "Unlike you, I've never had a family to lose." The woman gasped in realization as Amelia walked out of the Tavern and towards the horses to load them up. There she would wait for her new 'friend' to show up, so they could get going.

As she let him go, he fell to his knees and groaned in menial pain. He breathed out and let himself gather up his energy, slowly raising his eyes to look over Amelia as she left. He wasn't sure if it was the pain speaking to him, but he saw it as she walked away. A pair of white wings erupted from her back, a halo sat up on top of her head, and a sword of pure light fell to her side. Every part of her was beauty incarnate, and Adrian didn't know it then--but he was falling. And hard. Her figure left the room, and he snapped back out of his stupor, into the real world. Closing his eyes and swallowing back his pain, he finally got to his feet and breathed out. He scanned the area, noticing the dark, dried stains spreading out over the ground, mingling with bright red patches that appeared fresh. That was blood--his blood, to be exact. Shaking his head in disbelief, Adrian started to look around the room, to see if they had stored his goods anywhere easily discovered. Turns out they were simply laid out on a table in plain sight. His clothing looked relatively tidy, as if someone had put it there, to have it worn later. His weapons, as he drew them out of the sheathe, had been sharpened. He blinked, not sure what had happened, but glad that he could put his gear back on and not have to worry about it being all torn and such.

He also found some clean bandages in a box--breathing a sigh of relief, he carefully wrapped the most tender parts and clipped them off to be sure that he could at least be comfortable. His clothing was tenderly brought over his body, and he finally sheathed the weapons upon his back. Looking around once more to make sure that there was nothing he could use left in this dingy basement, he accepted that it was empty and made to leave with a soft, victorious smile. She'd come back for him. Even if he had wanted to kidnap her. Even if she had every chance to just leave... she'd come back for him. And that made him so much happier than she'd know.

Finally climbing the stairs into the main room, he noticed some shouting from around the corner. "You could never understand how it feels to lose your family, everything you love." He stopped short and placed his back against the wall, peeking around to watch the debacle going on. An older woman was shouting at Amelia, but she seemed to be shrugging it off rather casually. "You're right. I'll never understand what you feel right now. Unlike you, I've never had a family to lose." He stopped for a moment, eyes widening. Taking a moment to comprehend what she'd said, he suddenly felt a large pang build up in his stomach to just walk out and hug her. But, no, that wasn't the smart idea. Right now, she'd probably take his head off for even thinking about touching her. Instead, he would walk past the woman, wander over to the bag that had held Amelia's sword, and rummaged around inside it. Within it was about 3,000 gold pieces and a rather pricey-looking diamond. That would fetch a nice price and maybe even someone to look over his sister's condition, but... he turned back, looking over his shoulder. Slinging the bag over it, he tossed the diamond towards the surprised-looking dame.

"We all have something to lose, ma'am. Rather than worrying about what we do and don't have, worry about what we can have. You've been given a second chance to live, and you should take it. However," His spare hand went up to the handle of the blade, fingers wrapping around the black material, "If you feel that your life has been ruined, then I shall spare you any further pain." She looked down, and then back at him. At the diamond, and then back at Adrian. She thought for a second, and then shook her head. "They're gone... I don't know if I'll be able to go on alone... but I'll try. If I can make a new start and keep living for them, then I will." Adrian shook his own head in reply, "Not for them. For you. You're alive. Let your instincts kick in, and continue to survive. Trust me... letting yourself get blinded by what you cannot change is... devastating." He turned away and slowly limped out the door, looking around to see Amelia preparing the horses.

"Way I see it, we need to get you back to Zakat--preferably Iserlohn. You can do what you need to do, I can do some sleuthing for this shrine of mine. I have 3k in gold here, which should be enough to get us through a Doctor, and then allow us to survive a few nights. Once we find this Shrine, it's probably best that we split--you may have been worth a lot of money to them, but I'm the one who lost them that money. They'll want me more." He smiled bitterly, trying not to think about what would happen if they got him again, "Anyway, we first need to see ourselves to a Doctor. You know of any around here? I'm sorta not too knowledgeable on anything beyond this main ro--" A voice came shouting out from in the building, "There is a Doctor in the next town over, about two miles down this road. He's cheap, but good at what he does. Tell him Karrin sent you." Adrian smiled, nodded and waved, before hoisting himself onto his own horse, bag of gold on his shoulder and blades on his back. He felt lots of pain, but tried his best not to show it on his face. This was going to be a painful ride.

    "Shall we?"

    A Bothersome Transfer [Closed] Amelia4_zpsd2294ef8

Amelia was trying to load the horses, but something was getting in the way: tears. She held them in while speaking to the woman, attempting to seem strong, but she was failing miserably. All of this was her fault. That woman lost her family because of her and that fact was not something easily accepted. The one thing that Amelia wanted in this world was to have someone truly care for her. They didn't have to love her. She didn't need to call them Mom, Dad, Brother, or Sister. She just wanted someone to not lie to her face and use her as a slave. And now, she had taken the one thing she desperately wanted from this woman. "All because I ran away..." she thought. Currently, she was standing on the opposite side of one of the horses, so anyone that would come from the Tavern would not be able to see her. She went to adjust a strap on the saddle of the horse she planned to ride and froze, placing her forehead against the saddles side and let a few more tears go. She grit her teeth and waited to be able to stop crying. Even the horse wanted her to stop, so it seemed, because he turned towards her and nudged her a bit. She smiled weakly and took in a deep breath when she heard him speak up. Amelia quickly wiped her eyes with her dirty shirt and cleared her throat, though her eyes were still only slightly red.

"First off..." she stepped out from the other side of the horse after his 'shall we' and put a hand on her hip, raising an eyebrow at him, "Why don't you tell me your name?" It would probably have been more polite for her to introduce herself, but she was the one tied, gagged, and dragged here in the first place. She was the only who, technically, just saved his ass. She felt she deserved a little bit of respect and authority over the situation after all of that. Even if she didn't get the authority, she damn well better get the respect she knew she deserved. She wasn't going to be treated like some weak child. Not anymore. If he chose to answer, she'd nod and hold out her hand politely, "And I am Amelia Larone. We should probably get going to that town the woman mentioned. I need a bath... badly. It's disgusting being as dirty as I am." If he chose not to answer, she would leave her name out of it, hop on the horse, and make her way towards the previously mentioned town without another word and ignoring everything he said the entire way there. In either scenario, she would hop onto the horse and make her way to the town with him along side her.

He had to take a moment, when she asked him what his name was. He turned his head to face her, and blinked a few times. It was at that point that he realized that, even though he'd been given a mark, he'd never actually been given a name. He was simply told that they were 'a package', and that he had to deliver it. Frankly, the thought of treating another human being like that sickened him more and more. That simple question completely reaffirmed his decision to abandon those assholes to their own goddamn work. He breathed out, thought it over for a second, and decided to answer truthfully.

"Adrian. Adrian Sturmschwert," He pronounced it shVERT, "Don't worry about trying to pronounce my last name. Not many people can," He laughed softly, watching her get promptly on her own horse with a small smile. "And I am Amelia Larone. We should probably get going to that town the woman mentioned. I need a bath... badly. It's disgusting being as dirty as I am." He looked at her hand offering and declined it just as politely, as he felt that if he leaned over to take it he may just lose his balance. Horses didn't seem to like him. This one was placid about it, but this one had also recently dealt with being ridden by rowdy mercs. He didn't want to take too many chances, no matter the horse's history. Breathing out and spurring it lightly onwards, Adrian started off down the road alongside Amelia. Amelia. He liked that name. It suited her.

The sun was starting to hang low in the sky as the horses reached the outer edges of the town. It wasn't too late, but Adrian realized that they were late enough that the Doctor had packed up for the night. Accepting his fate of a painful evening, he decided to start off towards the local rest spot--which he promptly discovered, due to the cloud of steam (and the sign out front) that it had an open air bath--obviously separated by gender for comfort. He looked over towards Amelia for a second before waving her over, cringing at the pain from raising his arm, and then sliding off of the horse and tying it up outside. He waited for her to do the same before calmly wandering in through the door and going straight for the innkeeper. "Two rooms, thank you." The innkeeper grunted, and Adrian handed over about fifty gold. The coin was counted, followed by another grunt and two room keys. He handed one off to Amelia, before pointing in a direction. "I'm pretty sure that's the open air baths. I'm going to go and get these makeshift bandages off before I try these waters. Apparently they're meant to help wounds. We'll see about that."

    A Bothersome Transfer [Closed] Amelia4_zpsd2294ef8

Amelia was delighted when he gave her his name. A trust was being built between them and with every passing moment it was getting stronger. First, they struck a deal (finding her weapon and finding the shrine), then he sacrificed himself to get her weapon, she went back for him, and now they knew each others names. A bad day was definitely straightening out to become a good one. Amelia took the horses reins and walked up next to Adrian's horse before doing anything else. Amelia could also tell that the horse wasn't happy about being ridden, so she pat the top of the horses head to calm him a bit. "Alright... Let's get going..." she said, half talking to the horse and half to Adrian. The ride was quiet. Every now and then Amelia would glance to Adrian to make sure he wasn't going to fall off his horse and injure himself more. She even rode closer to him to make sure she could help if it started happening. Soon, they arrived at the town and discovered the Doctor had packed up for the night. "Great..." Amelia muttered and sighed before looking back to Adrian. She noticed his new destination and followed him over. Following his lead, she too hopped off the side of her horse, patting his back. After that, she went over and loosened Adrian's horses reins just a bit, so it wasn't to tight around his head. She then did the same to her own and tied hers up. Pulling out two carrots, one's she had stolen from the Tavern, she fed them to the horses and then went inside in time to see Adrian being handed keys.

"Thank you..." Amelia said, blinking at the keys in slight confusion. She looked towards the direction he pointed and nodded. "Finally... I can't wait to be clean again!" Amelia said in a cheerful tone, giggling happily. She waved to Adrian and then hurried to her room, saying "Gotta get clean. Gotta get clean." the entire way there. Now in her own little world, Amelia quickly tossed her things to the side of the room and grabbed two towels that were left there for those staying in the inn. Removing her dirty clothes, she wrapped herself in the towel and hurried right back to the open air baths. Luckily, it seemed that no one else was currently staying at the inn, so she had the girls section all to herself. She placed the second towel to the side and looked to the water. Taking a deep breath, she stepped into the warmth, sunk herself down, and just relaxed as much as she could. She felt a numb sensation over her body and opened her eyes, looking up to the night sky. "Right... it has healing properties... This is so relaxing." Amelia thought before closing her eyes again, letting the water do it's job.

It took a while, to be fair. Trying to remove bandages while not falling to the ground and curling up under intense pain was difficult. Breathing out and dropping his clothing to the ground, Adrian took a few moments to look over his body. His figure was slim, but had defined muscle. He didn't exactly look like he was only nineteen years old, but he definitely had the part of the youthful mercenary down pat. Reaching around and unclipping the first of his bandages, he started to wind them down and off of his body, revealing the dark red cuts to the world outside. The cool air in the room stung his injuries, and he closed one eye, biting down on his bottom lip to attempt to stem the pain. After he was sure that he could keep going with some measure of sanity, he started unwrapping again. Each of the bandages came off and refreshed his little bit of ache, but it wasn't quite the bite he had received with the first exposure to the outside world. He let out a long breath and let the last bandage drop to the floor, his nude form illuminated by candlelight. He hadn't bothered to shut the curtain, was standing right next to the window, and had no idea that if you looked up from within the female's side of the bath house that he was in full view of anyone looking up--Amelia included. It may have only been a glimpse of a few seconds, but it could've happened.

As it were, Adrian turned away from the window and picked up a light robe, resting it over his body to make the descent downstairs. No point in exhibiting his body to the world in such an enclosed space. He slowly wandered down the stairs and found his way to the bath houses, opening up the male side and covering himself up with a towel to make the trek outdoors. The air out there would be colder than the air in his room, and he found himself naturally gritting his teeth in preparation for this transfer of heat to cold. It was jarring, and as he stepped into the still air he froze in place for a moment, making sure to dull as much of the pain as he could. A lot of it was starting to reduce to a dull throb, but then he had to also contend with sliding into the hot water.

His feet went in first, and he slowly lowered his body into the warmth of the water and let out a long sigh of what seemed to be both relief and pleasure. Looking around, he noticed that there was a wall that hid more rising steam. There were a couple of holes in the wall here or there, but he didn't feel the need to peek right now. Especially if Amelia wasn't alone like he was--wouldn't that be fun: trying to perv on that young attractive lady and instead getting Griselda the Grey or something equally repulsive. Instead, he figured he'd make sure.

"Oi, Amelia. You in there? Anybody around that could hear us talking?" He chuckled softly and looked around the area before shouting some more, "There's nobody on this side other than me, don't worry. Honestly, I think we have this whole inn to ourselves tonight. Might as well make the most of it, eh?" He looked down at his feet and then shimmied around so that his back was towards the wall. There wasn't much distance between the wall and the pool, and he could reach out and touch it, that was how far away he was. He looked down at his wounds and noticed that, although they weren't so much healing, the waters seemed to be augmenting his own natural healing speed. Interesting, but probably not noteworthy. He stopped for a second, swallowed back his nerves and looked to his side.

"Amelia... I don't know if I can thank you enough. You rescued me today, and in more ways than one. You made me remember what was important in my life, and stopped me from being dragged down into that barbaric mindset. You deserve nothing but my highest praise, on the name of the Sturmschwert of Lotheria." He smiled quietly and looked back in front of him, mulling over more words to say to her.

I want to spend more time with you, Amelia. Get to know you better Amelia. Maybe we could travel more than just to Zakat, Amelia. I could always use someone of your calibre.

    A Bothersome Transfer [Closed] Amelia4_zpsd2294ef8

Amelia's momentary glance at the sky caused her to see someone out of the corner of her eye, but she dared not look to honor the privacy of someone in their room. Instead, she closed her eyes to relax and avoid the distraction. She took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. It was calm, quiet, tranquil. The inn was silent, only a few very soft noises coming from random directions surrounding the place. The village here seemed nice, isolated from the cities, but it also had a decent amount of people. "Maybe I'll find an Arcane shop while we're here..." she thought as she felt herself dozing off. A few more moments passed and her tiredness was getting the better of her. She felt herself fading into the night hour when suddenly a voice rang out for her. "Adrian?" she thought, slightly embarrassed at the thought of talking to someone while in the bath. As it lay there on the baths side, Amelia turned her head towards the part of the fence that his voice was coming from, contemplating whether to speak back to him. "I'm here." she spoke up a few seconds later, " No one's around. I'm here alone. Is there something you need? Don't shout, or you'll wake up the village..." Amelia didn't see the need to shout since she could hear him clearly, if not better. She laid there, her body submerged in the water and her head back on the side of the bath, just staring at the spot on the fence she knew he was behind. There was a few moments of silence, causing her to worry a little, but soon he spoke up.

"Amelia... I don't know if I can thank you enough. You rescued me today, and in more ways than one. You made me remember what was important in my life, and stopped me from being dragged down into that barbaric mindset. You deserve nothing but my highest praise, on the name of the Sturmschwert of Lotheria."

"I don't know what to say..." Amelia thought, still looking towards the spot on the fence. She blinked a few times and wondered what could have brought him on that path. Not only that, but it felt that there was something more he might have wanted to say. "You're welcome, Adrian, and thank you." Amelia said in a gentle tone, "For what you just said and for helping me today. I have never had someone sacrifice themselves for something I wanted. It was a new experience, one that I do not want repeated, but is highly appreciated. Once this water has helped me heal enough to walk normally, I will be headed to bed. Tomorrow, I will be returning to Zakat. I will keep my promise and help you find the Shrine you're looking for, but understand that I will be going to see the Emperor first. I know it may of sounded like it, but it was not a lie to get you to let me go when I said that she was waiting for me." Amelia closed her eyes and turned her head to face towards the sky again. Her body was healing a lot faster than she had predicted while in this water. She knew it was supposed to help, but the pain was already gone. This place really was amazing. Now she only wished she had invited the Tavern woman to come along. "Haha..." a short chuckle left her as she thought back a bit. If the woman wished to come here, she would. She was just as free as the two of them now were.

"You're welcome, Adrian, and thank you." He blinked, tilting his head slightly and wondering exactly what she wanted to thank him for. He simply stopped doing his job, did he not? He swallowed a little and breathed out. "I have never had someone sacrifice themselves for something I wanted. It was a new experience, one that I do not want repeated, but is highly appreciated." He laughed with a soft note. "I do not wish to repeat that experience either." "Tomorrow, I will be returning to Zakat. I will keep my promise and help you find the Shrine you're looking for, but understand that I will be going to see the Emperor first. I know it may of sounded like it, but it was not a lie to get you to let me go when I said that she was waiting for me." He blinked a couple of times.

That, he did not inspect. In fact, he was almost completely certain that she had been lying to him in order to pull him into trusting her more. He'd almost thought that there was no possible way that someone like her would've been able to know somebody as influential as the Emperor of Zakat. He wondered how she was able to get someone like that onto her side, but decided against thinking about it too much. He was certain that he'd find out the truth some way or another. Instead, he simply allowed himself to lean back and listen to her speaking. Well, he would've--but she stopped speaking at that point, presumably to allow her body the chance to relax and recuperate in the waters.

He stayed silent for a moment--it would've been the polite thing to do; but Adrian had already proven that he wasn't exactly polite. Letting out a long breath, he looked down, studying his body. His cuts had healed to manageable levels--he was going to likely scar badly, but he didn't mind. He was a warrior by trade. Every scar was a story, even if this was the story of being whipped for about half an hour.

"Oi, Amelia," His voice was a little bit more restrained this time, "After Zakat... could we possibly travel together more?" He almost stopped saying it, but he forced himself to say what had been on his mind. It was the right thing to do... right?

    A Bothersome Transfer [Closed] Amelia4_zpsd2294ef8

Amelia allowed a lax chuckle to escape her before she began drifting off into the warmth of the water. Realizing this was not going to get her clean, she sat up and removed the towel that was around her. Having nothing to aid her, like soap, she merely began wiping what she could off of her body. The silence had fallen again and Amelia felt at peace. A moment later, she heard Adrian's voice call out again. Shy and as if he could see her, she brought the towel back towards her body and shot her glance over to his part of the fence. "Y-Yeah?" she blinked a few times and calmed down, realizing she could not be seen. His tone had changed, but she couldn't tell by how much or what it meant. She merely listened to his request. "You... want to travel? And with me?" Amelia tilted her head a bit, pondering the idea. She never really wanted to spend her life traveling. She wanted a family and someone to genuinely care about her. "Maybe traveling will help me find it..." she thought and then began washing herself off again.

"I don't know..." she said out loud for him to hear, "One second..." Amelia dunked herself under the water really fast, making sure the splash was loud enough for him to hear and hopefully conclude that she was now under water. Luckily, these baths were huge. It was easy to swim when there was no one else around. Under the water, she moved around to rinse herself off and then swam over to the side that Adrian was on to get a little closer. She came up with a gasp of air and flipped her hair back, tossing the now dirty towel to the side. "Honestly, I've never thought about traveling. Any time I've gone from place to place, I was running from someone. It was never because I wanted to." Amelia crossed her arms and placed them on the side of the bath, relaxing her head on them, "Is there a reason you want to travel? And... I meant to ask before, but what's up with this Shrine you've got to find?" Amelia closed her eyes and waited for the replies to her questions.

He wasn't exactly sure how well-received his question to her would be. Honestly, he wouldn't be shocked if she'd openly laughed in his face (from behind his back) and told him where exactly to stick his offer of companionship. If that were the case, he probably would've just parted ways with her in Zakat and attempted to find the shrine on his own. He didn't need that kind of embarrassment hanging over a professional relationship, especially if she was going to be going somewhere so personal with him. He breathed out and gathered up his courage while he waited, preparing himself mentally for the answer to that. "One second..." He nodded and heard the resounding splash of water as Amelia obviously went under. He waited for a little while, wondering what she was doing--he was pretty sure that these baths weren't interconnected. An image appeared in his head for a moment, but he quickly wiped that away. No dirty thoughts please.

"Honestly, I've never thought about traveling. Any time I've gone from place to place, I was running from someone. It was never because I wanted to." He stopped suddenly, assuming the worst from that statement. Was she just going to leave after this, then? He wouldn't blame her--travelling wasn't for everyone. He knew that. He didn't deny it. He was used to being alone--even when he was travelling with the merc company. He didn't exactly spend all of his spare time drinking and partying with them. He spent his time looking for a goddamn shrine. Breathing out and looking into the sky, he waited for her to continue. "Is there a reason you want to travel? And... I meant to ask before, but what's up with this Shrine you've got to find?" He breathed out, wondering if he should divulge that information... but she'd told him more than he needed to know. So why not?

"I travel because I want to. Honestly, I do it for a lot of things--the greatest of all being my sister. She's... He paused for a moment, "No, I won't talk about her right now. I'll just say that I want to find things that'll help both herself and I." He smiled to himself, satisfied with that answer, "As for why I'm looking for that shrine? Well, it's a family thing. One of my swords is a magic sword--Vertreiben. There are several shrines, scattered around the world. One in each kingdom. Each of these shrines has an artefact within that belonged to my family. You've already seen one--Erläutern, the black one. When I find this artefact and use it in conjunction with Vertreiben, I get an additional strength to the sword. I don't know what to expect, and I don't know where these shrines are. I just know that, somewhere in this world, is my entire family legacy--and I aim to find it completely." With that he quickly dunked himself under the water--causing a loud splash as he did--and washed off the last of the gunk, before surfacing and listening for her reply. He hadn't missed anything, at least he was sure he hadn't. He'd only been under for a second.
