    Ruomei Li [Approved 1-1] 2qvfvar
    "Feel my claws."

    Basics

    Name: Ruomei Li
    ALIAS: The Hermit
    Gender: Female
    Age: 36
    Height: 5'7"
    Weight: 58kg

Personality: Frankly? Ruomei has BALLS. Gigantic fucking balls of steel. She is afraid of very little, and will stand up against most things that get in her way. She is the kind of person who will happily stand in front of an oncoming train, and those balls of hers will probably protect her from the impact. Some people aren't sure if this is bravery or stupidity on her part. She won't admit to anyone why she does what she does, and it's likely that nobody will ever really find out. In the end, Ruomei is a bit of an unhappy person. She doesn't really have anywhere to call home, and doesn't really have people to call friends or family. She only knows the hatred and dragons. That's all she's ever known, and the thoughts permeate her brain every time she tries to think about something else. Even the slightest mention of something Draconic wreaking havoc will cause her to twitch, curl up and then chase after the Dragon with her staff. If she wins, she wins--if not, then fine.

In saying that, Ruomei has a bit of a death wish. She doesn't want to die. Don't get it wrong like that. She wants to live, and she wants to see those evil Dragons pummelled into the ground. However, she doesn't exactly go into battle with caution. This is where that 'death wish' of hers comes in. She has little regard for her own safety, and will fling herself into a fight with no want for her life. She fights tooth and nail from start to finish, only calming herself when she finally leaves battle.

Outside of battle, Ruomei is really a nice person. She just has difficulty communicating with people. She'd rather communicate with the bottom of her alcohol, since at least that listens to all of her sorrows without talking back or making its problems seem worse. She also talks to thin air occasionally. But if you can get past that broken exterior, you might find something special within. If she were to find someone that she could call her own, you would most likely see Ruomei kind of cling. She'd devote herself to that one person, making sure their life is as good as possible. But that's gotta get somewhere first. Despite all of this, there are other things that revolve around the character of Ruomei and her mindset. She's a bit of a klutz when it comes to things that aren't battle or war related. She can't really keep up with paperwork. She has a plush rabbit that she sleeps with. She giggles like a schoolgirl when the word 'penis' is mentioned. She is unsure of her sexuality.  She realizes that a lot of people don't respect her because of her gender, and she wants to change that. But again, you actually have to get through to her first.

And not be an evil Dragon.

    Appearance

    Appearance:

    Spoiler:

    Magic

    Type: Scholar
    Description:

Known as the Magic of the Dragon Slayer, Ruomei has devoted herself to destroying any hostile Dragon that approaches her path. Since this is far from innate, it is something she has had to learn--a lot of the time, from the less-hostile Dragons that she has approached. Telling them that it is her plan to defeat those that would destroy humans, they have given her some of their knowledge and the rest she has had to devise on her own. In the end, however, she has taken twenty years to develop a style of Arcana that allows her to combat Dragons in single confrontation.

In the simplest sense: In order to combat Dragons, Ruomei has to become a Dragon herself. She cannot fully transform her body into that of a Dragon, but she can use her Arcana to manipulate traits of her body into becoming more Draconic as she needs them. Although there are quite a lot of traits she can take on, she can only have three at the most. She can take on all three traits in a single post. If she dispels a trait to take on another, she has to wait until her next post to be able to take on the trait.

Dragon's Breath: The required mantra for this is '??? flows through my lungs!' where ??? is the element that Ruomei has chosen to use. The element can be: Fire, Ice, Water, Air, Lightning or Acid. When she has implemented this Draconic trait, she becomes capable of releasing a large breath of the element of her choice. Her internal organs become immune to that element while she can breathe it. In order to change her element, she has to dispel the trait and recreate it.

Dragon's Scales: The required mantra for this is '??? cannot pierce me!' where ??? is the element that Ruomei has chosen. The element can be: Fire, Ice, Air, Water, Lightning, Acid or Steel. Although she cannot become immune to a specific element (that would be overpowered), she can raise her defence against that element by 50%, meaning that she only takes half damage from it when it hits her. In this case: Steel counts as any physical, non-elemental attack. In order to change her element, she has to dispel the trait and recreate it.

Dragon's Wings: The required mantra for this is 'Take me to the sky!'. When activated, a large pair of wings seemingly grow out of Ruomei's back. These wings allow her enough lift to fly without assistance. They are just as vulnerable as the wings of any other Dragon. She also has to have her feet on something to be able to dispel the trait.

Dragon's Stomach: The required mantra for this is 'Allow me to consume ???!' where ??? is the element that Ruomei has chosen. The element can be: Fire, Ice, Air, Water, Lightning or Acid. It cannot be the same element as her Dragon's Breath, or her Dragon's Scales. When active, it allows her to consume any source of the element she has chosen, adding it to her energy stocks.  In order to change her element, she has to dispel the trait and recreate it.

Dragon's Roar: The required mantra for this is 'Roar!'. This attack is a non-elemental blast of energy that Ruomei pushes outwards in front of her. Unlike the other modifications, this is a single-post ability that takes up a slot for that one post. It has the strength to knock Ordinary Dragons out of the sky, and cause a little bit of disturbance upon the wings of Great Dragons. Legendary Dragons really don't care.

Dragon's Claws: The required mantra for this is 'Coat my hands in the strength of ???!' where ??? is the element of Ruomei's choice. The element can be: Fire, Ice, Air, Water, Lightning or Acid. This ability modifies her hands, creating large claws that exude the element that she has chosen. Each attack of hers are modified to deal additional damage based upon her choice of element. In order to change her element, she has to dispel the trait and recreate it.

Dragon's Strength: This trait can no longer be activated with a mantra--in fact, it could be said that it is the only permanent trait of hers. To say that she is physically strong due to this trait is an understatement. Ruomei Li, due to this trait, surpasses even the best of humanity's non-magical strength with her own. There are most likely stronger beings out there, in fact there definitely are. But Ruomei can pick up an Amangh with little difficulty. And that's enough for her.

    Combat

    Equipment:

Staff: Just a normal, heavily-reinforced steel staff with rings on the end. That's all it is, promise! Of course, we don't exactly talk about the fact that it's bathed in Dragon Blood from a large number of encounters.

Alcohol Bottle: This bottle is filled with a clear, alcoholic liquid of unknown origin. The bottle has been enchanted (by Ruomei) to be neverending. It is also unbreakable. Can't be used as a weapon though.

    Skills:

Physically Strong: Even without the Dragon's Strength, Ruomei's body is a product of years upon years of training. There's very little useless muscle on her body, and an even smaller percentage of body fat.

Skilled in Hand-to-Hand: Ruomei can fight in close combat with the best of them.

Staff Master: With a staff, Ruomei is almost unstoppable in battle.

    History and Roleplay Sample

History: Her first true memory is of fire. The sky above was choked black, by billowing clouds of dark smoke. She could barely stand, let alone walk. Her bare feet shuffled across the soot-covered earth, her eyes moving left and right and looking up each and every source of movement she could find. She recognized her mother now, running towards her with tears streaming down her eyes. "Ruomei! We must get out of here!" She recalled that her parents had moved down to this little town in Brauk, from Zhilihan in the North. That was where her name originated from, yes that's right. She wanted to cling to those memories in order to keep her feet moving. She wanted to make more memories with Mother, with Fat--"Where is Father?" She watched her mother's face drop and then raise again, "He's waiting for us, hopefully. Come, let us get to safety." A roar disrupted the screaming of humans, forcing Ruomei to look up into the sky and stare at the beast as it descended through the clouds. It was larger than the sky itself, lurching the town out of its wake. Its mouth opened once more, and flames covered the ground, burning away flesh and stone alike. She felt her body pushed to the ground and her mother hunched over her. "I'm sorry, I love you." Ruomei opened her mouth to reply, but nothing escaped. Anything she could've said was drowned out by the crackling of flames, and the dying screams of her mother.

When she came to, she was covered in burnt flesh and bone. Even if she didn't recognize it, she knew the identity. Standing up on shaking legs, she cleaned herself off as best she could before turning around and staring. This city in Brauk was gone. Destroyed. It was only burning rubble and corpses. There were a few people walking around and trying to find their families, but it was almost a total loss--there was nothing they could've done. She heard whispers of a Grand Dragon that appeared once every thirty years in order to wreak havoc over Aurora--Endellion, they called it. That was the last straw, for Ruomei. She needed to leave, and leave she did--she left that city behind her, not worried about the fate of her Father, knowing the fate of her Mother, and deciding to let that be. She would kill Endellion.

And so, she began her training almost one week past that day. It was small, at first. She needed to be able to actually fight to be able to do anything. Therefore, she signed up for a Mercenary Corps. At first, they were skeptical--they saw no strength of body, but strength of spirit. Deciding this to be enough, they took her on her first mission. Although she still wasn't very useful in a fight, they managed to find a use for her--she could easily hide where none of the larger men could, and took advantage of her currently small stature to perform assassinations. Eventually, however, she was caught and required to fight. Easily defeated, she required assistance of her brethren to get out, before asking them to train her in combat. They complied, deciding that it was in their best interests.

She was first trained with a sword, but didn't seem to get the hang of it. She didn't like the way it balanced, and the cutting edges got to her. They tried her with an axe and a naginata, before settling on a simple quarterstaff. Although it wasn't deadly, she used it in a powerful fashion. In the end, she got stronger than they could teach her to be. With her money in hand, she searched for a new teacher--and she found one that she didn't expect. A Dragon. His name was Aketh, and he was a Legendary Dragon reaching the end of his lifespan. She spoke of wanting to defeat Endellion, and any dragon that would destroy places with no reason. He thought over this, and decided to accept her as his student. He told her that he would teach her to 'become a Dragon to destroy Dragons'--an Arcana passed through Draconic lore in case one needed to ever be defeated in this way.

And she trained. For years, she trained and drunk. When he asked her why she wanted to drink alcohol, she said that it calmed her. He spoke no more of this, and continued to train her. She first mastered the strength of a dragon. However, this wasn't to go as easily as she'd hoped. One word was all that it took--one word, and she was forever locked with unnatural strength. Strength that could open a door too easily for peoples' liking. She was reprimanded and taught to speak properly. After the strength came the rest of the traits, until she was powerful enough to manifest them on her own.

However, this did not seem to be the end of it. "Kill me." Her teacher asked of her. She did so without hesitation--but before he died, words were whispered into her ear. Words that shook her to her core. With her newfound power, she started wandering. She had no place to live, and no people to call her own. All she could do was wander and kill. Wander... and kill.

"Know that I am proud of you,
but your life is now through.
And 'til death you shall be,
    wandering into eternity."

RP Sample: "Hasegawa Michiko, please report to the Faculty Offices," was the call that came over the intercoms within her classroom. She looked up from her desk, as her mathematics teacher looked back from what he was writing on the board. "Looks like you're up, Hasegawa." She could feel the piercing stares of the students around her, wondering exactly what this young lass could've done to get called to the offices. A few students whispered menacingly behind her, while others looked left to right and received the attention of their mates in class. She slowly stood up from her desk, slid her papers back into her bag and nodded to her teacher--"I'll be back as quickly as I can, sir! If I'm taken for a long time, I'll get the homework next time." She bowed slightly and skittered from the room, making certain to escape the judgemental eyes of the people she left behind.

Her mind was a-flutter as she questioned the possibilities of everything that she could've done around here. Could she be in trouble for doing something she shouldn't have--wait... As she wandered through the halls and towards the tall building at the very center of the city, she stood still. "Has Grandmother... finally found me?" Her heart began to beat faster, her thoughts flitting back and forth, across different scenarios. She was frightened. She could be taken home. She would have the face the cane once more. She shivered, stepping over cracks and lines while she bit her bottom lip. "This is bad, this is bad, this is bad!" She swallowed back bile, continuing on with the walk. Each of her steps resonated in her mind, jarring her out of her thoughts as the view lengthened. She stepped outside and into the burgeoning sunlight, holding a hand up over her eyes. Recalling the direction of the Faculty Offices, she started in that direction.

The Faculty Offices were in the direct center of the city, and could definitely be called the most modern of all of the buildings. They were rather intimidating really--a spire that pointed up almost all the way to the top of the cavern that Hephaestus was built into--but for good reason. Not only was it the seat of the School's Faculty, but it was also home to the City's Faculty--and at the top, the Headmaster. The Headmaster did, for some reason, take the role of both Headmaster of Hephaestus Academy and Mayor of Academy City; so it was definitely certain that they had a lot of power--but even then, there were rumors that they were not the highest power. Michiko had been told, once, of 'Hephaestus', a shadowy organization that had plans for the Academy that even the Headmaster had no idea about. What those plans were, or even if they existed, Michiko could not say.

She entered through one of the four large glass sliding doors and stepped into a lobby that smelled definitively of clean air conditioning. The cold air tickled her nose, and she approached the receptionist, who smiled blandly at her as if this was just some other kid wandering in. "Michiko Hasegawa." The lady nodded and opened her mouth into a full grin, showing off the red lipstick tinges on otherwise perfectly white teeth, before pointing towards the elevator. "Tenth floor, follow the signs to the Faculty Waiting Area. There's someone here to see you." Michiko nodded in thanks and made for the elevator with haste; she didn't want to spend more time in that sterile environment than she had to.

She entered the elevator and pressed the {10} button. As the doors began to close, a young man slipped into the elevator next to her, wearing a similar uniform. She smiled briefly at him, and as he made no motion to press any buttons she figured they were going to the same floor. The elevator rose into the air, the potentially awkward silence broken by the horrendous elevator music played in the background. Michiko had her hands in front of her and shuffled from side-to-side as the elevator finally reached floor ten and they departed. Of course, this wasn't to be the end of it. As she looked past the signs, she noticed that they were going in the same direction--towards the Faculty Waiting Room.

Finally entering the room, she was then told to go into the Principal's Office, as her visitor was there. She blinked a couple of times, but complied--wandering into the Principal's Office, not even noticing the familiar-looking woman on the seat beside her, instead bowing and smiling--"You wanted me, Madam?" The Principal stood there--she was in charge of the general running of Hephaestus and its faculty, but she still answered to the Headmaster. Michiko thought that the Principal was exceptionally pretty and grand, quite honestly.
