Personality: If there was a single way to describe this young man, it would be loyal. Saitou is a fiercely loyal person. Because of an ultimate betrayal done by his Father and Mother, he used to have a hard time trusting anyone, but when he was so easily accepted and loved by a new family and home, Saitou decided he would do whatever he could to keep them all safe. This mindset leaked into his everyday life and now his sense of honor and duty are strong. He has come to despise liars. He just won't lie. There are times he may feel like he should and think about it for a moment, but lying just makes him feel so guilty. To avoid the needless guilt, he avoids lying to people.

Saitou has a gentle voice, one that can send shivers down the spine of a woman he's talking to. He's done it before too, but had never really understood why. Women aren't at the top of his priority list. Well, there's one woman there. It's the woman who attacked and killed his master and best friend, Nijirou. She must perish for daring to take the life of someone he cared for. Saitou has a habit of being one-track-minded. He can't really help it, but doing multiple things at once often messes up. He can't cook and clean at once. He can't train and talk to someone at the same time. The only thing he can do at the same time is walk and talk. At times it's even a wonder he can do that.

He has some silly habits that give him a rather cute demeanor, but this isn't how things start out. At first, Saitou seems like the strong, silent, brooding type that doesn't want anyone to bother him. It takes a while to peel back some of the layers covering who he is. He's not like an onion, but more like an orange. It's hard to get that first layer off, but once you do, you can finally pull apart the different pieces of who he is to enjoy what was being hidden. Though he's often stoic and can seem cruel with his chosen language, he doesn't mean it that way. He'll realize what he's said wrong and apologize if he hurt someone's feelings. Just don't be the woman who asks if the dress makes you look fat...

Character Background: Matokai Village is a well-known samurai village located northeast of Khatai on the Island of Ezon. The village has been there for hundreds of years and is known as the birth place of many different traditions, such as the Sakura Blossom Festival. This is where young Saitou Hajime grew up, a place of tradition and extremely dedicated warriors. He was not born here though. He was dropped off here by his Father years ago [when he was 6] when his parents left each other. Neither of them wanted him, so dropping him off somewhere was apparently the best solution to their situation. Malachi had absolutely no interest in finding either of them too. In short, it was easy to hate them.

Saitou was quickly adopted into one of the families and taken care of rather well. For the first year, he was completely silent. He did as he was told, but suffered in his silence. A man named Nijirou Matokai, one of the village natives, confronted him about learning to wield a blade. Saitou was interested, but never thought he'd be allowed since he was so young. Nijirou allowed him to begin lessons and he began opening up to people, mostly Nijirou. The two he now called Mom and Dad were glad he was feeling better and were quite proud of him. Over the years, he trained hard and called this place home. He came to love his home and highly respect his master, but things quickly went south.

Well, it wasn't just quickly. It was very sudden. Saitou awoke to the sound of Nijirou yelling. By the time he arrived, Nijirou was on the ground dead and a woman with long white hair stood over him. The woman was covered in Nijirou's blood, but she didn't come out fine. Nijirou had fought hard and slit open her entire torso, but... she didn't bleed. Frightened and completely taken off guard, the woman turned to Saitou and rushed him. Before he had time to react, he was forced onto his back and blacked out. When he woke, he was told that he and Nijirou were both attacked by a monster and Nijirou didn't make it. He remembered the woman he saw over his master and vowed his revenge.

Mastered Swordsman: Having been trained for fifteen years by a man who had mastered his weapons, Saitou is extremely good in the art as well. He had come to rival and almost beat the man who was training him. Nijirou was once a well-known swordsman that had been said to win one hundred and thirteen matches in a row, all other people challenging him. When Saitou challenged him for the first time, three years ago, the match was actually close. Saitou has only gotten more skilled since then. Though young, there are not many people who want to cross swords with him.

Barber: A surprising trait, but Saitou is pretty damn good with a pair of scissors. His need for accuracy allows him to cut with perfection. He trims his own hair as well, keeping it well taken care of.
