"Do you really think I'm going to let you walk out of here like that?" a smooth voices whispered in her ear as a strong hand wrapped around her slender wrist. This voice belonged to Jason Dolland, a wealthy business man who made his way to Varedia for a vacation. He pulled her back toward him and pushed her up against the wall beside the office door. He was wearing a black suit with a red tie. His hair was brushed back and his glasses down to the tip of his nose. He was an attractive looking man, intelligent, but selfish. He was the type that always got what he wanted, even if he didn't deserve it. He was so used to it that it was hard for him to accept rejection, especially from a woman. And that is exactly what had happened. He invited someone into his vacation house for what he would call a party, not informing her of what he actually wanted. He was good with his words, so she expected nothing bad. That was different now. His words were slurred and he wasn't the gentleman he had been before. He decided to get drunk before she had even arrived to the party. This was not what she was wanting.

"Look, keep your fucking hands off of me or I'll have your ass arrested!" Natalie replied to his advances with anger and a smack across the face. He looked to her in shock, but that expression quickly turned to anger. Natalie felt her heart skip a beat when he advanced on her again. This time it was much rougher. He placed his right hand on her chest and pushed her harder against the wall. His left hand grabbed her wrist and pinned it against the wall. He pressed himself against her, bringing right hand from her chest and up to her chin to force him to look at her. "Come on, Nat. I invited you here for a party, so let's have some fun." he said in his smooth tone again, but she glared at him. He obviously thought bad of her. She may not be an enemy to the idea of having some fun with a man every now and then, but she definitely doesn't just give herself to anyone. There are certain standards she has, and being drunk off your ass was not one of them.

"You're drunk. I'm not doing a damn thing with you! Now, get your hands off of me!" she demanded, shooting her knee up toward his groin. The unexpected shot to his balls sent him buckling over. She stepped to the side and kicked him to the floor before hurrying out of the room. Her heels clicked on the tiled floor as she made her way down the fancy glass staircase. "Get back here, y-...Agh! Fine! Get out of my house you worthless whore!" he shouted down the hallway toward her. Luckily the music down stairs was loud enough that the other party guests did not hear, but Natalie did. She narrowed her eyes as she got to the bottom of the stairs and walked over to a large flat-screen TV. She picked up a decorative stone statue and threw it at the TV, shattering it. The drunken party guests looked on in shock, but then began laughing. She picked up the statue again and tossed it through the glass front doors, happily walking over the newly shattered glass.

Natalie hurried down the street, a small bag hanging from her hand by the strap. Her entire night was ruined and she was miles away from home. She just wanted to get back and as far away from this place as possible, but she couldn't walk the entire way. She sighed in shame. She knew exactly who she had to call. "STUPID BITCH!" she heard Jason's voice and turned to see him running toward her, "You think you can break my shit and just leave!?" Natalie turned and began running as quickly as she could. She was able to make it to the end of the street to turn, but her heel broke and she went tumbling to the ground. As Jason came around the corner, he saw Natalie laying there in pain and holding her ankle. "Serves you right. Ha." he said, laughing and walking away. "Asshole." Natalie mumbled under her breath. Seeing as he didn't return, she knew he must not have heard her. She sat up, took her heels off, and tried to stand up.

"Ow..." she winced and leaned up against a stone wall. Her ankle wasn't broken, but she twisted it enough to cause it to be very sore. She sighed again in shame and just sat down. She wasn't even sure where she was at this point. The only clue she had to go on was the Dolland Estate. Natalie reluctantly pulled out her phone and went to call the number, but refused to push send. She sat there for an hour before she gave in, after multiple failed tests to walk on her own, and finally called him. "Izumo..." she spoke sadly once he answered the phone, "I'm sorry... I did something stupid again." Natalie explained how she was invited to a party, but when she arrived he kept trying to force himself on her. She'd explain how she hit him, broke a few of his things for calling her a whore, and then walked off. Finally, she'd tell him how he chased her for a bit, but saw that she hurt herself falling and just left her there.

"C-Can... Can you come get me?"

Slow nights were the worst. It was basically just waiting for closing time instead of hoping for new customers. Nights like these, Izumo was prone to close early. But the fact he had two customers still there was going to prevent him from doing that just because if it was slow. Well, I say two customers. Besides himself, there were three other people in the bar. The third was no customer... he half-lived there, half-worked there. Izumo trusted that guy enough to give him a key to the bar and to clear people out when he said last call. He still didn't get to drink for free, however. No one gets free drinks here.

Izumo had just finished cleaning a shot glass when he heard the office phone ring. Well, this wasn't a normal phone necessarily. Instead of using complex electrical circuits like some other countries may use, this was instead created by using two magic circles. One led a specially-made wire to a microphone and the other led the same type of wire to an earpiece. It was more like a radio than an actual phone, truth be told. The two circles would transmit certain wavelengths to and from an operator's box, which would then send it to other phones. Although you didn't have to talk to the operator, there was no direct calling.

"Hello, this is Bar Homu—" He was quickly interrupted by a familiar voice. "Izumo..." She sounded a little sad... and then some. Something wasn't right. This wasn't the first time he'd have to cheer her up, and something told him this wasn't the last either. "I'm sorry... I did something stupid again." Izumo sighed. Again? "What'd you do this time?" She then began to talk of her adventure... if you could call it such. It wasn't surprising someone like that guy was an asshole, let alone that kind of asshole. "C-Can... Can you come get me?"

Izumo smiled, even though she couldn't see it. "Of course. Just tell me where you are, and I'll be there shortly." After she'd tell him where she was, Izumo would come back into the bar. "Sorry folks, this is last call. I've got urgent business to attend to. Once you finish these drinks, that smoking man will take your payment." Izumo grabbed his black coat and began to head out the door. "Logan, just lock it after you leave. I've gotta go help a damsel in distress." That was his code for "you don't have to actually lock it, but stick around outside until I get back to make sure no one breaks in." Waving, he took off.

Well, he took off around back. Parked in the narrow alley was an Arcana-driven moped with enough room to fit two. It was yellow and had a single light on the front. Izumo lit a cigarette and cranked his moped. It didn't take him long to actually arrive at where Natalie was. If he had gone on foot, it would have been, but thankfully, he knew that drunk people couldn't walk well. Granted, he didn't know how much she had... so it was better to be safe than sorry and being used as crutch.

Izumo didn't even stop the engine, and instead just hopped off, only to help her on it. "Your chariot has arrived." He offered her a helmet if she wanted one. He wasn't going to wear it, so it'd be fine if she wanted to. "I'll take you back to the bar so I can see about your ankle. It shouldn't be too badly hurt, but you'll still probably want some ice on that..." Izumo smiled as he began to drive away with her on the back. "I will say, I don't think you would've liked that guy anyways. He seems to be the type that couldn't finish what he started... or maybe he'd finish too early and pass out. Just my assessment, of course."

It was silent and with every passing car, Natalie raised her head to see if it was him coming. It was hard to describe where she was, so she was hoping her horrible directions didn't get him lost. She didn't want to screw up his night more than she already had. Izumo often had to bail her out of sticky situations (or worse) and it made her feel like she was just a burden to him. Even with how irritating she must have been, he always came to her rescue. Not once had he ever said no. She couldn't even remember if there was ever a time he actually got angry with her either. He always just smiles and helped her without any hesitation. She'd promise herself that she wouldn't bring him into anything again, but then something like this happens and she has no choice. He was really the only person she could count on to be there no matter what bad happened to them.

"He should have dropped me a long ass time ago..." "Your chariot has arrived." she heard and was pulled from her thoughts. She looked up and saw that he was here. She blinked a couple times and then smiled sheepishly. She did her best to get up without looking like an idiot, but that ankle made that harder. He helped her onto his Moped and offered her a helmet. She puffed up her cheeks at it, but knew she had to take it so she put it on her head. "I'm gonna have helmet hair again..." she said as he got back on the Moped. As usual, before she put her arms around him to hold on, she poked at his sides to tickle him a bit and then clung tightly to him. It wasn't something she noticed, but Natalie has this playful nature when she's with Izumo. It isn't something that she can help and just feels comfortable enough around him that it doesn't matter. She was just more natural.

"I'll take you back to the bar so I can see about your ankle. It shouldn't be too badly hurt, but you'll still probably want some ice on that..." he said as he began driving off. She laid her head on his back and nodded. "I don't want to go home..." she told him. She sounded sad when she talked. This was because Jason had called her a whore. That's the one insult that has the ability to get to her. The only time she ever really seems bothered is when someone chooses to call her that and Izumo would know that quite well. "I will say, I don't think you would've liked that guy anyways. He seems to be the type that couldn't finish what he started... or maybe he'd finish too early and pass out. Just my assessment, of course." Natalie merely nodded. "He called me a whore." she said with a tear falling down her cheek, instinctively tightening her arms around his waist a bit, "I'm not a whore."

Another thing that Natalie being called a whore meant to her and Izumo... She was about to get drunk. The two of them made it to the bar with the same conversations that every friend has when they first start interacting. How are you? Fine. What have you been up to? Not much. Anything new? A few customers/Men are assholes. You know, that type of thing. Once Izumo stepped off the Moped, Natalie held her skirt down to prevent any peepshows from happening as she was presumably helped off. "Thank you." she said with a sweet, but saddened smile. With the help of Izumo, Natalie made it inside to a chair where her attention was caught by a red haired man smoking in the corner. She immediately knew who it was and sighed. "Oh great..." she mumbled when she saw him stand and move toward her out of the corner of her eyes. "What the hell did you do this time?" Logan spoke irritated at her.

Natalie turned her head away from him. "Izumo, what the hell did she get herself into this time?" Logan turned to the one in the room he actually liked for answers. "That's none of your business!" Natalie glared at Logan and reached up to pull on his ear. "Hey! Let go!" he said and pulled her hand away from him, "And it is my business if you keep getting him involved! Stop being such a bother!" Natalie froze for a moment and sighed, looking away from Logan and Izumo toward the front of the bar. "It won't happen again." she said with a pout, though she had said this many times before. "Yeah... right." Logan rolled his eyes and looked to Izumo with a dull expression that read 'why do you deal with this?!' Natalie looked back to Logan and narrowed her eyes. "You should go so Izumo and I can have a little fun." Natalie said with a mischeivous smile, implying the same thing she implied last time this happened. Sex. It is Natalie after all, so it wouldn't be shocking.

"Ha, yeah right. Izumo's smart being the one man that doesn't want to." Logan said and caused Natalie to freeze. First off, she once again entertained the thought of Izumo being homosexual or found her unattractive for some reason, which was not something she was used to. The other thought was what Logan had just implied. "So you're either implying that you're a woman or you want to touch me?" Natalie crossed her arms, watching Logan's face distort as he realized what he had just said. She covered her mouth and laughed into it. "Ha, gotcha again." Natalie said, having caught Logan in many word twists before. "Shut up! Izumo, I don't get how you deal with this woman! I'm out!" Logan pulled his jacket closed and stepped out of the front door, waving back to both of them. "Later Logan." Natalie said. The two of them obviously have a very strange relationship. You often couldn't tell whether they liked or hated each other. In fact, Logan didn't like Natalie seemingly using Izumo while Natalie was just playful toward him. She had no actual problems with Logan and was clueless of his dislike.

Either way, the moment he was gone, Natalie laid her head on the counter and sighed. "Why do you keep me around?" she asked curiously, staring at a wall, "I'm nothing but trouble for you, I don't work here, and we don't exactly hang out beyond your bar, so why are you so kind to me?" Natalie looked to him and blinked a couple times before sitting up. "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to, so forget I asked. I'm just glad you do keep me around, otherwise I'd have no one." she smiled brightly and then tapped the counter, "Come on! Let's drink!"

What that man called her was not approvable at all. A whore was someone like he saw standing on the side of the streets. The woman behind him? That was no whore. She loved and knew how to love. And just because she'd have sex a good bit, that doesn't make one a whore. It may carry the connotations of one, but it is far from one. "Don't worry. He's just calling you names because that's the only type of woman he can get. The fact that he can't get you makes you not one of them, right?" He may be breaking the law by not wearing a helmet, but his passenger needed it more than he did.

They made it to the alley, and Izumo would help her off. He escorted his damsel in distress over to the front door, and opened it. Logan was the only one in there. He knew this wasn't going to go well, but he had faith in them not to destroy his bar. Last time they did something to harm it... he scared both of them enough to make sure that it shouldn't happen again. "Izumo, what the hell did she get herself into this time?" Izumo waved it off. "Not her fault this time. Just someone who got too drunk started to harrass her." He wasn't going to tell Logan about the party, but that should suffice.

"I've got some things to do upstairs. You two behave." Izumo waved and went in through the "EMPLOYEES ONLY" door, which led to the staircase to the upstairs apartments. While Logan and Natalie were arguing, Izumo was busy clearing off the couch in his apartment. Something told him that Natalie was going to be staying the night. It wasn't the first time, and something told him that it wasn't going to be the last either. And this something speaks to him a lot. He goes by his gut feeling, that "something," a lot.

He walked down just to hear Logan getting frustrated again. "Shut up! Izumo, I don't get how you deal with this woman! I'm out!" Izumo blinked and sighed a bit. There was no point in dealing with this right now. "Have a nice night and be safe. If you need anything, I'll be here." Izumo was half-expecting Natalie to say the same thing as he waved his friend good-bye.

"Why do you keep me around? I'm nothing but trouble for you, I don't work here, and we don't exactly hang out beyond your bar, so why are you so kind to me?" Natalie asked an odd question as he began to put away the last bit of his last customer's drinks. He'd pour it out and began to wash out the glasses. He had just finished placing the first down when the question was asked, but she had rescinded it by the time he turned around. "You don't have to answer that if you don't want to, so forget I asked. I'm just glad you do keep me around, otherwise I'd have no one." Natalie tapped on the counter, signaling that it was time to drink. "Come on! Let's drink!"

Izumo nodded and pulled a rather well-made glass from his shelf. He quickly rubbed a lime across its rim, making two laps with the citrus fruit. "You should know my life is my bar. And if someone is important in my bar, they're important to me. That should satisfy your craving for an answer." He felt that Natalie wouldn't be satisfied with an "alright." She'd want an answer. And that was his. He dipped the rim into some special salt, and then he began his mixing of the alcohol. It took about 30 seconds for the mixture to be completed and shaken. He poured it into the glass and then placed it in front of Natalie.

Natalie chose to push the question off for one reason: she was scared of his answer. She was scared of making him lie to her. She was a pain in the ass and she knew it. Logan had made that quite clear some time ago. She didn't like being such a burden on him, which is why she promised that she wouldn't do it again every single time. Nothing ever changed. She still went on dates, went out to party, and had as much fun as she could. What was she going to do if she stopped all of that? Live the rest of her life alone and unhappy? That was the entire point of her dating. She wanted to find someone to love and love her right back. She was just looking in all the wrong places in all the wrong ways and that shouldn't bee too surprising. "You should know my life is my bar. And if someone is important in my bar, they're important to me. That should satisfy your craving for an answer."

Natalie just stared at him for a few moments before looking around the bar. A small smile formed on her lips when she thought of how attached he was to this place. She couldn't understand it, but as long as it was important to him, she could tell it would important to her as well. Even though she actually would have been okay without an answer, she was glad that he gave her one anyway. It was nice to know she was on a similar level of importance as his bar, though she still assumed she was lower. It was funny to feel that she'd protect this bar for him. It wouldn't be because she cared about it so much, but because she knew he did. It was the one thing she felt she could give back since he had done so much for her without asking anything in return. Besides trying to stop being such a burden, she didn't know what else. She had tried that one time. It was when Logan first made her realize how much of a bother she was to Izumo and it proved that Natalie got into more trouble when he wasn't around.

For an entire six months she refused to call on him for help, but that only got her into more and more trouble. When she finally gave in and called him, it was after being dragged around in the trunk of a car with men threatening to sell her off until she them back.  "Haha..." she giggled a bit when remembering that day, "Remember when we stopped talking for like... six months? Logan made me so mad, I said I was done... Finally got in enough trouble that you had to pull me from the trunk of that mob boss' car?" Natalie stared down at her drink and took in a deep breath. "To  you, for saving me for the thousandth time!" she said as she brought it to her lips and downed the entire thing. She set the glass gentle on the counter in front of her and inched it toward him. This is what she did when she wanted another. "No other bar, or should I say bartender, in existence can make a drink like you. Yours are always many times better than the next best..."

"No other bar, or should I say bartender, in existence can make a drink like you. Yours are always many times better than the next best..." She always liked to compliment him. And he'd accept it, even if he didn't believe it. He was just a humble bartender running a humble hole-in-the-wall bar. "As long as I can keep my first and best customer coming, I'm doing something right." He smiled, and the two began to converse throughout the night.

Conversations on the happenings around town, memories, and even alcohol roared through the room. It was as if there was a full house, but it was instead just the two of them. They already had fun just talking, but when alcohol was involved, the fun level grew even more. That was until a strange tingle on his back caused him to stop drinking. He looked out the smoky windows to see multiple figures beginning to line up outside. It was nowhere near opening, so something was definitely wrong.

He put the bottle away and placed his hand beneath the counter. His eyes narrowed behind those purple sunglasses. "Natalie... I need you to go into my office, call Logan, and tell him I said we're out of butter. He'll know what it means." He was no longer happy and was instead very serious. "Now." He was practically ordering her, and he was not taking any shit right now.

He followed her to his office as he could hear the front door's lock clicking. "Sorry gentlemen, we're closed for the night. I must ask you to leave..." As Natalie stepped in, he closed the office door and locked it even though there was a way to unlock it from the inside. "..but you won't, will you?" Izumo stepped back into the main room and lit up a cigarette. "So tell me what your business is with this little bar. I was having a rather fun night until you showed up." About seven men, each a local roughneck or loanshark, stood in the main hall of the bar.

Many of them carried bats, although a few were carrying metal pipes or pool cues. "Well, ya see... we're here to keel ya. Not'in personal, jus' that yer wort' some mo'ey." Izumo stepped behind the bar and picked up the two glasses and began to clean them. "I see, I see. I can't imagine who would want to put a bounty on my head." He placed the now-cleaned glasses on a drying rack and picked up a bottle of alcohol to return it to the rack. "After all, I'm just a simple bartender." And as he said bartender, the bottle flew out and smashed on the middle man's face.

In the same motion, he activated his cigarette—yes, activated. Ten marble-sized fireballs flew onto the middle man's face, igniting it. The other six began to move towards him... and were met with a steel tube pointed at them. "Ah-ah-ahhh. No one move." However, it was not just one steel tube. There was another, although it was closed, underneath the main one. It was smaller, and had what appeared to be some sort of hand guard. Down the tube and closer to Izumo's body was another hand guard. Once the pieces were all in view, it was obvious this was a large-gauge shotgun.

"Now, I don't know what you think you are trying to do—hitting someone in their own bar is probably the worst idea." His eyes were hidden by his glasses. "But if you take one more step... my finger may slip, and there is no telling which of you will need to be mopped up in the morning." "We ain't ascared o' yoo." And one man, however stupid he may have been, decided to charge. That man was the first to feel the power of thunder as a 10-gauge shell split apart and the flechettes dug into his flesh—mangling every bit of his torso. "Want to try again? You have five lives left."

Everything seemed to be going great. Natalie was getting a bit of a buzz, the two of them were talking about anything and everything, and she was getting him to smile. She couldn't understand why she always liked it when he was smiling, but then that smile suddenly faded. Natalie tilted her head, not even noticing that he was looking at something. His tone completely changed; the fun was gone. Her heart sank a bit and her expression became very confused. He ordered her to call Logan and tell him something strange. "What?" she asked in confusion, but got a serious 'now' in reply. Feeling like something bad had happened, Natalie nodded and hopped off the stool, heading into Izumo's office.

Natalie went over to the phone and picked it up. As she was about to dial the number, she heard the lock click behind her and looked back to the door. Her heart began racing; he was acting very strange right now. "Izumo?" she called out his name quietly, unsure if she actually wanted an answer in the first place. She stood there, stuck, her finger hovering over the buttons on the phone as she listened. She could hear some talking, but couldn't make any of it out. And then suddenly everything got noisy. Natalie jumped, her body tensing in fear as she heard sounds she wasn't used to happening just outside the door. "Logan..." she remembered and began dialing his number, hoping for him to pick up.

"Izumo, I forgot m-..." "We're out of butter! We're out of butter!" Natalie interrupted him immediately. A loud bang echoed through the bar and through the phone as what sounded like a shot gun went off. Natalie heard nothing more from Logan and hung up the phone. She went over to the office door and tried to see if she could tell what was going on through the glass, but it was one of those windows that were frosted and practically impossibe to see through. She slowly unlocked the door and peeked her head out. She could barely see Izumo's back from where she was standing. At this moment, she saw someone with a large bat come from the back door. The man instantly charged at her.

"Stay still, you stupid bitch!" the man demanded. "Ahh!" She screamed and ducked back into the office as the bat came down, smashing the frosted glass. From the other side of the bar, the door was calmly opened and stepped through. "We got a problem?" a familiar voice stepped back into the picture. He stood there, his hands in his pockets, head slightly tilted, and his eyes narrowed in irritation at the fools who decided it was smart to mess with this bar, Izumo, and Izumo's... woman. "Look, you dumb-asses. You came here armed with bats a his fire? Idiots. Back the fuck off." Logan threatened, motioning Izumo toward Natalie, who was staring in horror at the man who had attacked her.

"We got a problem?" Izumo took a hand off of the pump of the shotgun to wave to Logan. "Good, the call came through." He smiled, as he knew this was over now. No one was going to withstand Logan's rampage. "Look, you dumb-asses. You came here armed with bats against his fire? Idiots. Back the fuck off." Izumo noticed Natalie screaming as soon as Logan motioned towards back there.

Izumo darted back, and he didn't know if it was because he heard glass breaking or Natalie's screaming. "Hey now, what is it you think you're," he raised the shotgun up like a club, bringing it down on the guy's head in unison with the next word he said, "doing?" He knelt down, grabbing the bat from the now-KO'd assailant. Slowly, he stood up until just his eyes were visible over the door. "Heeeyyy....."

Izumo spoke as calmly as he could in this situation. He began to stand up more, awkwardly smiling as well. "Sorry it turned out like this..." He looked as if nothing major was going on, but he did show that he knew this was odd, even for him. "Uhh... Why don't you take this," he reached the bat through the glass window, handing it to Natalie, "and you open that second drawer on the left side of my desk..."

As she began to move around, he pointed to the right drawer as she got to it. "Yes, that one. Now lemme have that box." He nodded, hearing what sounded like pure ass-kicking coming from the other room. Inside the drawer, a oaken box which was rather heavy laid within. As she handed it to him he smiled. "Thank you, Natalie dear. If anyone but Logan or me comes to that office door, you bap 'em with the bat." He winked to her, trying to keep her calm.

Izumo opened the box, pulling out an overly-ornate silvery revolver. It was at least a .44 magnum if not larger, and the handle was made of ivory. "One reason people don't like coming here is the smell of smoke... I try not to smoke as much inside, but tonight is going to undo a lot of that damage because of your friend there." He tossed the shotgun to Logan, not caring whether or not he caught it. It was moreso a distraction as he leveled the revolver to another one's knee, blasting it into smithereens with a single shot. "So, anyone else want to stay?"

Logan knew that the moment Izumo heard Natalie scream, that he was going to need to move quickly. The moment Izumo turned his back to the idiots who threatened him, Logan made his move. One of them attempted to charge with a pipe in the air, but was met with a strong kick to his ribs. "Ugh!" the bastard groaned as he was pushed off his balance and into another one of his friends. With that manuever, Logan was able to put himself between him and the five that were remaining. "Are you sure you guys don't want to walk out of here?" Logan said, balancing on one foot as if he were ready to strike in a moment. They all looked to each other and charged like the fools they were.

"Fucking IDIOTS!" Logan brought his right leg around, striking the number three in the side of the head. He immediately spun, shifting his balance to his right foot, dodging an incoming pipe as his left leg came up, his foot striking under the jaw of another one of them. Logan glanced at the perfect time, seeing number one attempt to bring a wooden bat down onto his head. He was almost hit, but was able to shift his weight just enought to move out of the way. His hands still in his pockets, Logan spun himself once more, this time striking number one twice, two kicks in quick succession, sending the man flying back into number four. "You guys done yet?!" Logan asked.

And in the back hallway... Natalie was pretty shaken up. As the man came to hit her, Izumo knocked him out and she felt better for a moment, but when she heard the fighting going on in the other room, she got worried again. She looked to Izumo as he apologized, but she kept her worried look. He handed her a bat and she held it to herself quite tightly, her hands trembling as she gripped it. And then he pointed out some box in a drawer and did as he asked, handing it to him. She was surprised to find that it was a gun, but glad he had it. "O-Okay..." she replied nervously, gulping as he took the gun and turned away. She closed the door and just peeked her head over to watch.

By the time Izumo made it back, one and four were down and out, leaving three heavily injured, but still trying, and two and five practically cowering as the 'stronger' one's had been taken out. Logan reached out and caught the gun that Izumo tossed, stepping back a few feet to stand by his friends side, now also pointing the shot gun toward them. He had actually taken a pretty bad hit, now having a large cut down the ride side of his forehead, blood dripping down his face and over his right eye. "Now listen to the man and get out. You couldn't take me alone with your weapons, while I had none. How are you going to take us with our weapons." Logan spoke up after Izumo.

"Now listen to the man and get out. You couldn't take me alone with your weapons, while I had none. How are you going to take us with our weapons?!" Logan didn't pull the trigger on the shotgun yet. It was great for Izumo—he'd hate having to replace or repair the glass or floor that would be riddled with pellets. As the group looked to what happened to their compadres, they grumbled. "Fine, we'll leave. But this ain't ova'."

Izumo lowered his revolver, watching as they scooped up the ones who couldn't walk. As they began to exit, Izumo smiled and waved. "Don't forget your friend's face. Some aloe might help. Although, putting the fire out would be the best way to start." After the doors closed, Izumo sighed. "I am going to need a day off..." He reached into his pocket, lighting another cigarette. He quickly began smoking it—not even caring about what he had said before about not smoking.

"Well Logan, looks like you may be staying the night here... or I could call a rookie to look over the place from the outside." He turned to his friend, shaking his head. "Can't let 'em inside—last time they cost me three-hundred gold in liquor." After letting Logan respond, he knew Natalie was probably scared shitless.

Tying up and relocating the unconscious man who tried to get to Natalie, Izumo spoke up to his damsel-in-distress. "Natalie, it's safe now. You can come out of the office." He finished moving the guy into the storage closet, re-tying his hands with chains instead of tape. He locked the door from the outside and turned to her. "Natalie, do you want to stay here or do you want me to take you home?" He smiled as gently and calmly as he could considering the night. "Can't really let you be alone tonight, can I?"

"Fucking bastards..." Logan watched as the morons grabbed their piece of shit friends and ran out of here with their tails between their legs. With a quick glance to Izumo, he walked over to the table he had been sitting at before he left the first time and picked up a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He nodded once to Izumo, as he pulled a cigarette from the box and was about to light it. "What the hell did they want in the first place?" he asked, then lit the cigarette, playing it in his mouth and taking a puff, before taking it out again, "Might want to go check on your cute little mooch. After all of this shit and her little incident from earlier, I'm sure she's freaking out by now." As Logan spoke, smoke left his mouth. He exhaled fully and then went to sit down at the booth, leaning his back against the wall.

Logan was right about one thing though, Natalie was pretty scared. She was standing in the corner of Izumo's office with the bat held straight above her head. Her legs were shaking, making it pretty surprising that she was able to stand in those heels of hers. She heard a lot of rough-housing before, but then it calmed down. Still nervous and trusting Izumo to come get her when he knew it was safe, Natalie stayed still and quiet. She heard some talking, the muffled voice sounded like it was just Logan and Izumo, but she wasn't sure. After a bit of time and what sounded like something being moved around, Natalie jumped at the sound of Izumo's voice finally calling back to her. Her arms fell to her sides, the bat falling off to the side in his office and she took a deep breath, regaining her composure.

Natalie finally stepped out of the office and looked down the hall to Izumo's storage closet. She stood there, for a few moments and watched, relieved when she saw that it was Izumo who came from the closet. He locked the door, causing a bit of her curiosity to peak, but she ignored it. He walked toward her with that gentle and calming smile he always seemed to have, but she didn't budge. He asked if she wanted to be walked home, but she said nothing. Instead, she stepped through the arch and into the main bar, stopping before she could see Logan. "With all of the banging that I heard, I thought there'd be much more damage..." she said as her eyes saw the gun sitting on the bar. Logan leaned forward a bit to see Natalie heading toward the gun. He shot up and snatched it from her reach.

"Hell no. You'd probably shoot someone in here, if not yourself. Keep your damn hands off of it." Logan told her, holding the shotgun away. He expected some sort of retaliation from her, but was surprised when there wasn't any. Instead, she blinked a couple times and nodded, "Okay." Logan raised an eyebrow at her and then glanced back to Izumo in a manner that said 'take care of her dude'. "I want to go home." Natalie looked back to Izumo and then glanced around, wiping a single tear from her eyes. If one of them touched her, they'd realize that her entire body was shaking. In fact, she was hiding the fact that she felt like throwing up really well. "You okay?" Logan asked and she nodded. "I'll be fine... You don't need to walk me." Natalie looked away from the both and darted toward the door.

Izumo was glad the Natalie looked unharmed. Shaken, but she didn't look harmed. As she tried to walk out, Izumo rushed to her, stopping in front of the door. He smiled to his valued customer. "Walk you?" He asked, seemingly serious. "I don't know what you're talking about." Izumo stepped towards her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "C'mon. We'll take the express way." Izumo began to walk her to the back door of the bar.

"Logan, in case I don't come back for the night, call the ram and the bull. Tell them to be on alert." Logan would know that this meant the two codenamed Aries and Taurus. Those two should be in the area... And if things were as bad as he thought, Izumo knew he'd be dealing with some shit that the two of them couldn't handle alone. "Oh, and all the food in the place is on the house tonight, so fix whatever you want to eat." He waved to his friend, and continued to pull Natalie towards the door.

"Hey... Sorry about tonight. I'll take you home, and stay for a bit to make sure everything is safe. But in the meantime..." Izumo reached into his pocket, pulling out a well-made switchblade. "Take this." He placed it in her hand, as a way of saying 'no giving it back.' He smiled as he walked past the bike parked to the side of the alleyway. His hand went to a brick on the wall of the bar which looked no different from any other. However, it went into the building slightly. In front of them, a section of the wall began to sink into the ground.

Behind the wall sat a curtained... thing. Whatever it was, it was covered in a white sheet. It was also much larger than a bike. He didn't say anything to her as they approached until they were a few feet away. His arm left her and reached for the sheet. "Well Natalie—your chariot..." he pulled the sheet off of the thing, "awaits." Izumo was proud of the thing. And it was definitely something to be proud of.

Four wheels and a body almost too wide for a lane shone in the moonlight. Black, glossed paint reflected Izumo and Natalie. The inside, barely able to be seen from the outside, was upholstered in red. The material was unknown, but it was definitely red on the inside. Its lights were narrow and, when combined with the chromed hood bar, looked like designer sunglasses. The hood itself was flat save for where the wheels were. Adorning it was a chromed gargoyle. But besides the flashy 'wings' at the tail of the car and its size, there was one thing that stood out about it. The grill was interrupted by a large cylinder with five exhaust ports at the front.

Izumo walked over to the right (passenger) side, opening the door for Natalie. "Nothing can hurt you in here." He winked, proud of his car... and possibly even his skills behind the wheel. And if she refused, Izumo would just sigh and pull her into it anyways. "You're not going home alone, so I might as well make sure you get there in style... and safely, of course." He walked over to his side, sitting comfortably in the scarlet leather. "So where to, ma'am?"

Natalie just wanted to be home. For once tonight, she wanted to feel safe. Usually, her safe place was in Izumo's bar with them just talking, having fun, and drinking, but tonight that had changed. This place wasn't safe and it wasn't fun. She didn't know how to handle all of this. She wasn't an adventurer. She wasn't a soldier or a fighter. She was a normal woman with basic needs, who wanted to be happy, safe, and have fun. This was way out of her league. So when Izumo, stopped her, she gave him this desperate look in  hoped that he'd just let her pass. The moment his arm wrapped around her shoulder, she felt her shaking ease and was able to calm down enough to at least function.

"Izumo, I just want to go home..." she said when he talked about some sort of express way. She was assuming he meant his scooter thing that she could not think of the name of right now. She didn't know he had some awesome care hidden within the wall of his bar. When he began walking her out, Natalie glanced back to Logan and just waved to him, "Goodnight." Logan waved back, but it was very lazy and uncaring. He knew she'd be fine. Logan just quickly found the fridge and a nice drink before returning to his favorite booth. Natalie, on the other hand, was lead around the bar and too an alley way. As they walked there, he apologized and handed her some sort of knife.

"Logan would kill you if he saw you hand this to me..." she said calmly, "There is apparently a higher chance of me stabbing myself or you over the people actually trying to harm me..." Natalie giggled a little, but sighed. Once they made it into the alley way, she watched in confusion and shock when Izumo activated some sort of garage by pressing on a brick. "What... the hell?" she tilted her head to the side as the wall lowered and raised an eyebrow to Izumo. She stepped inside with him and watched him reveal a vehicle that had to have been brought from Zakat, or at least super specially made. "Izumo..." she shook her head in shock, "How the hell did you get something like this?"

"Well Natalie—your chariot... awaits." he said, opening the door for her. Natalie blinked a couple times. At first she was a little nervous about riding in something like this, but she saw something in Izumo's eyes. He was happy about having this car; he even seemed proud of it. Staring into his eyes for a moment and hearing those words about nothing hurting her, she was able to smile again and nodded, moving to sit in the seat he had motioned for. As he got in beside her, she looked around, resisting the urge to push every button she saw. "Oh right..." she blinked a couple times, "You actually don't know where I live. That's stupid. Corner of Main and Indigo."

Once they'd arrive, Natalie wouldn't move in the car for a few seconds before looking to him. She looked a little nervous, but for a different reason than he'd probably think. She wanted to ask him something, but it was something she had never asked him before. "Stay the night... with me?" she asked in a soft tone, as if she was still wondering if she should ask, "I don't want to be alone tonight." She gulped, her eyes practically begging for him to say yes. "There is a garage too... around back, so your car won't be out here." she pointed toward a small drive way a few feet down. If he said yes, he'd see her sigh in relief, and then be led to the garage, and then proceed being led him to her apartment.

How did he get this? Well, the simplest way to put it was money. A lot of money. But then he'd have to explain that—and Natalie didn't need to be thrown into a world she had no need to know about. She was already in danger because of it if Izumo's theory was right... so if she went too deep into the rabbit hole, the hunter might just think she's a rabbit too. And although she was just as cute as one, Izumo didn't need her to be put into any more risk than that.

And that is why this stylish mini-tank of a car was to be her chariot for the night. Izumo locked the doors as they got in—and they seemed to lock harder than any other door lock Natalie would have heard. That is because not only is the frame and outer body reinforced steel, but the door locks are like those found in vaults and not in a normal car. As Izumo started the car, the windows slowly grew darker as an auto-tint function activated.

The roar of the massive engine wasn't as brash of a nosie as one would think. In fact, starting it up wasn't even much of grown—but a slowly-growing high-pitched whine-like whistle. A few seconds into it, the whistle died down and the low roar began to sneak into the ambient noises of the night. The dashboard, mainly towards the driver's side, was riddled with switches and buttons, and every time Natalie would reach towards them—Izumo would shoot her a glare of 'don't.'

She gave him her address. It was funny. He had driven by that place so many times, but never knew that was where she lived. Well, he probably knew it was where she lived, but never had the chance to visit her apartment. Plus, he had more important things to remember than the apartment he'd never visit. If Natalie was drunk, Izumo would make her stay the night at the bar. In fact, he would have much preferred to stay the night at the bar with her, but considering everything that happened...

It seemed impossible that the car would fit down the tiny alleyway—but it did. And then it made an even more impossible turn onto the main road. Between the two was enough space for another seat altogether, but most of it was taken up by personal armrests for both the driver and passenger sides. Despite the car's massive size, very few things upset the ride other than Izumo's sharp turning. The whining roar echoed through the night—and soon they arrived at the apartment building.

As they stopped, the car's locks undid themselves with three clanks followed by a louder clunk. He let the car idle, and it made no other sound than a low whine. Izumo leaned on his open car door as he watched Natalie turn towards him to ask something. He knew what she was going to ask, so he interrupted her before she could say 'me.' "I was already planning on it." He smiled, knowing he had probably just surprised her.

Natalie led him to 'her' spot, and he let her out before pulling in. As the whining came to a stop, Izumo stepped out of the car. He pressed a button on the keychain... And the windows changed. Now they were no longer glass, but plated metal as what looked to be shutters rose in front of them. The car itself lifted about three inches off of the ground as a jack pressed down underneath it. The tires slowly became wrapped in the same type of shutters. He smiled to her and almost grabbed a cigarette out of habit—but didn't. He didn't want her place to smell of smoke too. "This looks like a nice place. Do you enjoy living here?" Izumo asked as he took a look around the apartment. "And may I have the grand tour?"

Natalie lead him into the house and the moment she stepped in, she took in a deep breath and relaxed as she let it out. As if she had Izumo here a thousand times in the past, she leaned her shoulder against the wall and removed her shoes. She set them down next to the door, near a pair of jogging sneakers and looked back to him, "Go ahead and take your shoes off right there. I have a habit of tripping over them if they're placed anywhere else..." Natalie could be caught glaring down at her own shoes for a moment, as if it was the shoes fault that she fell over them every now and then. When he asked for a tour, Natalie glanced around her place and rubbed the back of her head.

"I don't really have much to show." she said and then pointed down the hall, leading him in that direction, "You can see the kitchen right there, obviously... here is the bathroom. Yes, I had that massive tub put it. It's probably the most comfortable thing ever... And I keep this room locked for personal reasons, nothing you'd be interested in... I think. And here'd the bedroom." The kitchen was surprisingly clean, since Natalie often came off as the messy type of person. The living room was in order, the bathroom was spotless and decorated in light blues and greenish colors. Her bedroom was decorated with whites, dark greens, and browns, giving off a nature feel.

"Well, this is my home." Natalie shrugged a little shyly. Realizing this was the first time she brought him here, she actually wondering what his opinion was. The place wasn't super girly or anything like that, and was nicely decorated and kept clean. She didn't think he'd be impressed, but she did wonder what he thought her home said about her. Of course, the locked door would always be suspicious. She just didn't need him knowing about her bad habits just yet, if ever. One thing that might be noticed though, Natalie didn't have a couch. She had a loveseat and one chair, with a fluffy rug in front of the fire place. Technically, there was only one place to sleep: Natalie'd bed.

"Hm..." she huffed when she realized this too, "I'll be sleeping on the love seat tonight... And no arguing. When I'm over at your place, you make sure I'm the most comfortable, so it's my turn. Do not argue, or I'll have to beat you up... Also, did you eat before I arrived? I can try to make us something to eat, or just order out... What time is it?" Natalie had suddenly become a little anxious. She hadn't thought of the sleeping arrangements and knew he'd argue at what she just said, which was only going to make her feel guilty. Besides that, this was his first time being here and she didn't expect it, so she had no idea how to entertain him for the night. He wasn't like other men...

Just like Izumo was proud of his car, Natalie was proud of this place. Even if she seemed shy about it, it was worth being proud of. The colors were nice to look at and soothing compared to dark reds and browns Izumo's studio consisted of. "It's really soothing. You've got a lot of open space though... Ever consider putting in some bookshelves, statues, or plants?" Izumo liked the place, but he could feel that something was missing. And it wasn't the couch.

Izumo was impressed with the bathroom, and wanted to see how warm the water in her bath could get. However, he had no plans on bathing there tonight. And since it was the night, the topic of sleeping came up. Natalie told him that she'd be taking the loveseat and would accept no arguing. He shrugged. "I won't argue with you sleeping on the loveseat." And just as quickly, he wryly smiled to her. "I just won't sleep on your bed then. It's appreciated, but I don't like sleeping on a woman's bed unless she's sleeping beside me." He had no idea what he was saying, and was just letting his tongue do the talking without much help from his brain.

And along with sleep, came the subject of dinner. "I think it might be a little late for ordering anything out except for sketchy take-out places..." Izumo had sushi from one of those places before and the bar's sewage system had to be completely rebuilt from overuse in a short time frame. "Besides, I think I'd like to try something you made tonight. It might even calm your nerves a bit." He once again instinctively reached for his cigarettes, kept in his chest pocket, but remembered again. His nerves were the ones who needed to be calmed at this point, and there was only one more thing other than tobacco that could do that for the bartender. "Do you have any alcohol here? I can make some drinks if you'd want."

Natalie just casually shook her head to the statement about adding things and shrugged, "I figured I'd add something later on in life. I don't think I have a reason to right now. I'm here alone and most of the people that come over don't come back, so... yeah." Natalie kept up a smile, but her tone was a little sad. A social woman like herself was often lonely at home when no one was there waiting or she wasn't waiting for anyone to come home. And when that inevitable subject of sleeping came up, Natalie pouted. She was going to have to beat him up if he didn't sleep in the bed. It was all fluffy and comfy, so why not?! But when he finished that sentence, Natalie sort of hunched in on herself, holding her hands behind her back. She lowered her head a bit while looking at him and her cheeks began to turn a tint of red. She couldn't fully tell, but part of her wanted to ask if that was a hint toward something.

Dinner. Yes, dinner. Natalie brought her hand up to her chin, placing a finger at the bottom of her lips to think. "Something I make?" she questioned and looked over to the kitchen. She glanced back to him just in time to see him reach for his cigarettes, but not take them. "Don't be silly. You can smoke in here." Natalie said with a giggle, "Just crack one of the windows open so it doesn't fill the place... I'm going to go change before I get started on dinner. Anything in specific you'd like? I have just about anything... Look in the fridge to see if you can find anything!" She continued talking to him as she made her way down the hall, shouting back to him by the end of it. Natalie didn't even close the door while she was changing. Why? Because she walked into her walk-in closet to change.

A few minutes later, Natalie stepped out dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, nothing too fancy. Her hair was taken out of the ponytail and allowed to hang like normal. "Much better." she said as she ran her fingers through her hair. "Did you figure out something you wanted?" she asked, walking over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She bent over to look at what she had and then moved to the cabinet to try to get an idea of her own. "Hm..." she closed the cabinet and stepped over to a small radio that sat on the counter, "Always got to have music going while you're cooking..." Natalie looked over to him and tilted her head, "I have some clothes that might fit you... Unless you want to wear that all night?"

Izumo wasn't entirely hungry, but he wasn't going to turn down a meal. And because of that, not much really seemed appetizing. "I'm afraid I didn't, sorry. Just cook something you'd like and I'll try it." He smiled, trying to make up for him not being able to come up with anything. "I also didn't find much alcohol..." That one he was a little more obviously down about, as he needed to calm his nerves too.

"But I did find a bottle of wine in there..." He motioned back towards the fridge. "If you want, I can open it up. If you don't, I can try to whip something else up..." The only other thing he saw was tequila, and he really wasn't in the mood for that tonight. "So how long have you lived here?"

After she answered, he remembered something. "Oh yeah... I'm sorry about tonight. You came over to get away from stress, and ended up nearly getting hurt... I don't know who those guys were, but I don't think they were after you—so don't worry about that. I think I've seen them before... They looked like local ruffians. Loan sharks and enforcers... The kind of people the casinos here hire to make sure tourists pay. I would say Logan pissed someone off again, but they seemed to be more focused on me..." At this point, he was basically thinking out loud.

"I had some chicken alfredo ready for tonight, so I'll whip that up..." Natalie said with a soft smile as she pulled out a few things, "I... don't feel too much up to cooking, so I'm glad I already had stuff prepared." Natalie pulled out everything she needed, started up the fire, and began to slowly warm up the sauce while getting some water to boil for the noodles. "Oh... Hahaha..." she giggled a little at the mention of there being a lack of alcohol, "I go to your place for that, Izu... I do only approve of the more fine, well-prepared drinks." Natalie turned to him and waved a spoon around as she spoke, complimenting his work. A bit of sauce splashed from the spoon and hit her face, so she wiped it off with her finger and tasted it, "Not bad... Hope it's something that you're okay with... Annnnd.... here."

Natalie pulled out the bottle of wine he mentioned and set it on the table. "Sorry for not having much... If you want, I can head down to the corner a little later and get something you'd like better." she offered as she pulled out two glasses and set them on the dining room table, "For now, this is what we have." Natalie sat down on the chair nearest to the wall and slid a bottle opener toward him. "I... always have trouble with these..." she scratched shyly at her cheek, "Do you mind?" Once he opened it, since that was the only way it was getting opened, Natalie happily poured both of their drinks, slapping at his hand if he dared try pour it for her tonight. "No, you pour mine all the time. It's my turn to cater to you." she said with a smile, set the bottle down, and went to check the food.

When she sat back down, she dazed out for a moment while thinking about this night.  When he spoke up, she was pulled from her thoughts. "Hm?" she blinked a couple times. "Uh... I'm not entirely sure. I've been here since before we met... How long has it been? I'm not the best at the remembering game." she asked him as she took a sip of her wine. And then he apologized and Natalie could only stare. Something about this night was off. At first, she thought they wanted to hurt her because she smashed the rich guy's stuff, "But they seemed to be more focused on-... yeah... you." she said at the same time as him and looked away. She felt like she was missing something and was thinking very hard on what that might be. "You're a secret agent or something, aren't you? That's totally how you have that super awesome car!!" Natalie pointed excitedly at him, feeling like she discovered something extremely cool about Izumo, "You work for the Queen and fight bad guys... riiiight?! That's it right?!"

Izumo didn't want to argue with her about the wine. There was a certain way one had to pour wine, and he was afraid she couldn't do that. But to his (pleasant) surprise, she did it well. He almost wanted to clap in praise of her. She apparently was learning from her experiences in the bar with him—and that made him feel good. As she took a sip, so did he. "It's not half-bad. If you like this, I'll have to bring out a vintage I keep in the cellar at the bar." Oh, that's right, there was a cellar with a secret entrance in his office. Only wine was stored down there—but it was damn good wine.

"I've been running the bar for... just about four years now, so it's been a while. Although, I thought you grew up here in Varedia, but you make it sound like you aren't from here. Mind if I ask where you're from then?" Natalie just seemed like a normal Varedian. She just clicked with the climate of the city and rode the type of city it was (and the people who ran it) well it seemed.

One thing she didn't click well with was puzzles apparently, as although she was almost right on the money with what he really did, she quickly derailed. "No, no... I'm not some secret agent working for the Queen. I haven't even met her. But I do some odd jobs here and there and pass on a couple of jobs to Logan and some of his pals if I can't take them... That's how I can afford that car."

Izumo didn't really like lying to Natalie, but he knew that if she knew the truth... things would be different, and she'd be in danger. "If anyone's probably a secret agent or something, it's Logan. Sometimes I wonder where that guy even comes from. He just..." his hands spread out and began to make a half-circle, "appears. Oh, that food smells good. Nothing is better than a good Alfredo and wine. Seriously, come by the bar tomorrow and I'll let you have a taste of that wine I was talking about."

"Four years... And you've never been to my apartment?" Natalie raised an eyebrow at this, "I don't really know why, but that kind of frustrates me. How have I not invited you over for a party? Or just to hang ou-..." And then it hit her. Oh right, that's why. Natalie just sighed and played it off. "Eh... No, I'm from Iserlohn, the Capital of Zakat. I came here a few years back... Iserlohn just wasn't... me." she narrowed her eyes when she thought back at the torture she experienced there, "I was made fun of... a lot, humilated... Of course, that changed when I 'developed', but they were all still idiots, so after I was voted Queen of the final school dance, I threw the crown at them all, broke the bouqet, and came here to Arcadia... Hahaha... Second day of my life... Of course, starting up a life here was not easy..."

"What about you? Were you born here in Zak-.. Hmph.. Arcadia." she said, annoyed at the slip of the tongue, "What made you want to start up your own business? Or bar? Whatever one of those came first..." Natalie stood up again as he talked, stirring the sauce and noodles before sitting back down. "Just a few more minutes." she said in a quiet interruption and then continued letting him talk. Usually the two of them talked about their days, bad customers, bad dates, and things like that. It wasn't often that they actually talked about who they were and how they got to where they are now. When Natalie thought about it, she really didn't know much about Izumo. Realizing this only made her want to get to know him more, which was odd for her. Natalie usually preferred to not get to close to people.

"Hmph..." Natalie pouted a bit. She really thought she had figured that out. Oh well. "I don't think Logan is a secret agent of any kind. I think he's a mob boss who secretly wears suits, a fedora, and uses those Zakatian guns to blow people up... Either that, or he really is as much of a softie as I think he is." Natalie stood up again and took in a nice whiff of the food. "Yes, it does smell good." she said as she began draining the noodles. A quick slip of the hand and Natalie had to fight a scream. She set the pot back on the stove and quickly turned on the cold water, running her hand hand under it. "Shit, shit, shit..." she said softly, "Hun, th-There's a first aid kit in the cabinet under the bathroom sink... Do you mind grabbing it for me?" Natalie looked down to her water-burned wrist and narrowed her eyes.

"Stupid..." she muttered, irritated at herself for being clumsy. Before he even got back, Natalie went back to finishing off the noodles and did not make a mistake this time. She ignored the stinging that it caused in her hand and rinsed the noodles with hot water. Once she was done, she placed them on the counter and began serving their food. Just because she burnt herself, doesn't mean she couldn't make sure her guest got his food. It was Izumo. Izumo was going to get his food. By the time he'd likely return with it (if he had not seen and stopped her from continuing in the first place), since she was on the faster side of cooking, Natalie would already have his plate set up on his side of the table and then started continuing to run her hand under cool water to ease the pain, "Thank you..."

"Zakat, huh? Interesting. I might just have to start calling you Imperial." He joked, knowing full well she wouldn't take kind to that kind of nickname. "I was born here in Varedia. Not much happened until middle school, when I made friends with this old guy who was the conductor for the playhouse downtown. I got a part-time job helping them out backstage... and then I volunteered to help out with the bar one night, and just learned I had a knack for it. I kept going until the playhouse closed down. He gave me the money from the closing of it, and I opened my bar."

Izumo had an odd backstory, but it was relatively normal. The only weird thing was how he met Logan... And that was just that Logan started showing up and the two eventually became close friends. And then Logan came up in topic again. Natalie seemed to be close to the truth, but just far enough away for him to tell her that she was wrong without lying to her. "I can't see him with a fedora... He really likes that lion's mane he has."

Then Natalie burnt herself. Izumo knew how painful that could be, so he did run to the first aid kit. And when he got back, he noticed the food was out. After he was finished with wrapping and cooling her burn, Izumo brought his fist up and lightly punched the top of her head. It wasn't to hurt her, but to get her attention. "Don't do stupid shit like that again. Not the burning yourself, but you should have just stopped and let me get the bandages first. What would you have done if you had burnt your pretty face after slipping and falling into the alfredo? I don't think you have enough bandages in here to cover that."

"Let me handle the hot things for the rest of the night. You're already down a hand, and you don't need to be down anything else." He smiled and sighed, both in relief of her not being hurt worse. "Now, let's eat." He took the other seat, and began to eat. It wasn't entirely perfect, but it wasn't bad. "It's pretty good. The wine really helps the taste."

Natalie instantly pout-glared at that Imperial comment, but she knew he was joking. His past was actually a little more interesting than he likely thought it was. In her mind, he had someone care for him enough to hand him over a pretty good amount of money. That was actually pretty cool. She did just nod to his story though, unsure of what else she could say at that point. When the subject of Logan came up, Izumo commented on his 'lion mane' and Natalie couldn't help but laugh. "I never thought to call it that; I will when I see him again, which knowing him will be tomorrow when I come taste the win." Natalie said with a small smile, right before she ended up burning herself.

Natalie knew it was a stupid idea, but for some reason she was really determined with making Izumo comfortable. When he returned, he helped her with the bandages. She was surprised that he didn't say anything about her working with the burn, but relieved. Maybe it didn't bother him? Nope, wrong. She looked up as he went to punch her head and then flinched, thinking it was going to hurt. When it didn't, she blinked in surprise and looked up to him slightly confused. She wasn't sure what he was calling stupid, so she was about to lift her hand to ask if that was it, but he quickly clarified. Once he was done, she really could only nod to him. Usually she'd argue, but she just couldn't.

The two of them sat down to eat and Natalie smiled when he didn't immediately gag or spit it out. "That's a relief at least..." she thought, gulping a bit. He commented with a pretty positive way, so she smiled sweetly. "I know I'm no gourmet chef, but I'm pretty decent in the kitchen, I think... I don't cook for other people very often, so I do apologize if it's bad." she said and took another bite. It was a decent meal in her eyes, but food wasn't something she was too picky about. "So... what exactly was tonight about?" she asked, looking straight at him. Her eyes were slightly more piercing than usual, practically begging him to just tell her, "There's no way that happened over a high bill."

"You can trust me, Izumo... Have you gotten into some sort of trouble?"

"Listen," Izumo stopped eating and set both his drink and fork down, "if I had any idea what tonight was about I would tell you. Not because I'd want my business to be known, but because it involved you. You almost got hurt with this, and if you got wrapped up in something I caused, I'd let you know. You're important to me and the bar, and I just can't let you get hurt because I had too much pride and didn't want to tell you what I was having trouble with."

Izumo really had no idea what was going on. No one should know that he was the leader of the Black Cross. No one except for Logan, and there's no reason Logan would sell him out. So he had to think it was something to do with Varedia, and not his organization. "I don't think it's because of a high bill or gambling debts. I pay my bills on time and I stopped gambling after I lost a vintage 388 Chateau Drummond. If anything, it's going to be the bakery across the street which doesn't like the fact I smoke. But I don't think they'd go so far as to hire ruffians like that..."

"So please believe me when I say I don't know anything about tonight. I'm going to talk with Logan tomorrow—see if we can come up with anything. I told him to ask a couple of friends to help look out, so we should be safe... But if I learn anything, I'll tell you. And if you learn anything, you tell me right away. Not Logan, not the police, not even the Queen. You tell me. Got it?" He wasn't trying to be mean, but he didn't know who to trust besides Natalie and Logan at this point.

Natalie said nothing while he talked. She kept quiet and listened to every word. There was a little bit of suspicion raised when he decided to tell her not to tell anyone, but him. Shouldn't they have gone to the police before now actually? She didn't even think about that. Tonight was just a rough night. At the same time, she knew police were often paid off by thugs like those, so she understood to a degree where he might be coming from. Of course, why wouldn't she be allowed to tell Logan?

Natalie narrowed her eyes, stood up, and walked over to him. She stared down at him for a moment, probably looking like she was going to hit him, cause she was. With her uninjured hand, she smacked him semi-lightly on the back of his head. It wasn't meant to hurt him, but get his attention with a slight sting. "Stop adding that damn qualifier! I hate that." Natalie told him and then tugged lightly on his ear, "I get that I was your first customer and brought a lot in, but would be that big of a deal to not keep adding the fact that I keep your business alive?! Sometimes I wonder if you'd stop talking to me if I decided to stop coming around to buy enough drinks to keep the place open!"

Natalie sighed once she finally got that off her chest and stepped over to her chair again. She sat down and relaxed, looking away from him with an upset expression. "Anyways... I do believe you and I will do as you've asked... I was just worried. I didn't mean to come off like I was calling you a liar..." she told him before twirling her food with her fork. She didn't know what was wrong right now. She just felt like something was bothering her, and it happened every time he added that damn 'important to the bar' thing. "Is there anything you'd like to do once we're done eating? I don't spend much time here, so I don't have much... We could just talk? No... It's late and I'm pretty tired after everything that happened today... Wanna just go to bed? And yes, I mean bed, because you're not sleeping on the floor, or the couch... I have no problem sharing the thing if you don't."
