Things hadn't been going so well for ol Snopy Saika. Nope, not at all. What had started many moons ago as a simple job to earn some cash had gotten him attacked by 5 golden slavers, 4 rogue bandits, 3 mighty Taeric, 2 Viridescent Forest Snakes, and an Ahriman in an oak tree. Christmas carols of doom aside, his life has had very few moments where it wasn't in extreme jeopardy. As the carol of doom cycled, he did happen across several elves. Three of which he called traveling companions, sorta. Two of them he did, the other he had only ended up with in a rush to save someone's life. Snopy wanted to stop being the helpless guy who needed protection all of the time, and Elwyn kindly accepted the request to train him. He had the determination to say the least. He apparently impressed Elwyn, which was an accomplishment according to the much quieter little sister. Yet he had been pushed way further than he was supposed to. By chance he happened upon Hacil, and it quickly turned into a frantic rush to save Nilani's life when slavers fired a poisoned bolt into her. For days and days on end he ran at full speed, using every ounce of his strength to keep up. Somehow for days on end he kept up, Elwyn boosting him. Yet it ended poorly all around. Nilani, though cured, had taken damage from the poison. Elwyn had drained her magic and thus had no strength. Hacil had used what she had left to protect Snopy from dying after his body began to give from over-exertion. Somehow though, they survived. They got the cure, and were being transferred to Aria for treatment at Aria Grand.
In their weakened state, most of them remained unconscious. Most of the days were fairly quiet as a result. The first one to truly regain consciousness was ironically Snopy. His eyes fluttered open, as a thick layer of clouds lay overhead. There wasn't much humidity, so rain was unlikely. He looked around a bit. He saw Hacil's burned up body, why was she burned? What did she do... He remembered some warmth after he blacked out...did...did she help him? He turned his head to Nilani. She seemed to be alive, so the antidote had worked. Still, she looked so sickly and pale from the poison. Then he looked at Elwyn. His heart, which was still having trouble truly accepting others, actually noticeably sank. She wasn't just pale, she looked dead. His eyes widened for a moment, maybe she actually was dead. Then he saw her chest moving slightly. He let out a soft sigh, she was alive. Still, Elwyn always tended to be so strong and...collected. Together. Seeing her look half-dead was a bit of a shock to his system. He lowered his head again. Staring up at the roof of the carriage until he finally recognized the gates of Aria. He was home, for whatever it was worth.
The Carriage didn't take long before stopping, so they entered the gate right by the Aria Grand Guild Hall. Not shocking seeing the direction that they came from. Or maybe not, his sense of direction was a tad fried from all the chaos. Some people came to help them out of the carriage. Snopy sat up, getting some of the guild members to carry the elves. Most were pretty poker faced, but some had a look of disgust. Leave your prejudices out the door now bub. Waste of energy. One man went to carry Snopy, but he signaled not to. Instead, he put one arm around the man to support himself, and was aided into the Guild Hall. He sighed, at the very least many had forgotten about the Saika. Their work around the city made them pretty well known at one point in time, but being dead 5 years has a way of dropping people off the map. Last thing he needed was to be recognized by someone who would do nothing but look down on him. They were carried through the main hall into a hallway, before turning into the infirmary. Hacil and Nilani were set down pretty gently, but the one carrying Elwyn was less adept at hiding his prejudice and practically threw her onto the bed. "HEY!" Snopy shouted, leaving the aid of the man who had helped him, but he quickly let out a "'sssssss" noise as the pain shot through his body. His knees bent and he almost tumbled onto the floor before the man caught him again. "Don't just toss her around like that, she's in bad enough shape as it is." He allowed the man to help him into the bed, before laying down and staring at the ceiling and waiting for someone to come help them.
