Personality: Vidis is a man of magic—a living testament to how power can destroy its holder. He despises magic, and therefore Arcana. In the eyes of Vidis Florianus, magic destroys people. It destroys family, love, and all sorts of things that people care for. And worst of all, it's not always on purpose. It's a force of raw destruction. No matter how many healers exist, there will be tens, if not hundreds, of destroyers for every single healer.

Vidis does not have much of a sense of humor. Jokes, sarcasm, and puns all seem to go over his head. Cheerful banter does little to affect his moods. He is a somber man, and only the one he cares for can change his mood into something more than a stoic melancholy. Only with her, can Vidis enjoy parts of life —he can even enjoy the pitter-patter of a child's footsteps if he were to ever hear that.

There is only a single person that matters to Vidis. Ciara, Vidis's dark saviour, is the only person that gives Vidis a reason not to throw himself onto his own sword. She is the only one who knows his face, his story, him. To Vidis, her goal is something noble, pure, and a great change for Aurora. In short, Vidis will follow her to the gates of hell. He loves her, but moreso he is afraid to love anyone. Vidis does not wish to repeat what he did in the past.

Character Background: Vidis's story begin in a faraway town in a country he has long forgotten. It's odd, of course, that he'd forget what country he hails from considering there are only four. It may not even be that he's forgotten, but that he doesn't care. It should all burn. Vidis was fifteen when he laid eyes upon Felicia du Rayne, a merchant's daughter in the large town he lived in. It was love at first sight, even removing his puberty from the equation. She was dark-haired and bright-eyed with a grace like he had only heard of. And yet, she did not return his feelings. But she did like the boy, so they did become friends not long after their initial meeting.

Felicia was too kind for her own good, and Vidis too much in love. He courted her, and she enjoyed the attention he gave. Vidis married Felicia when he turned eighteen, and the two decided that they would have a happy life in the town they met in. Vidis had a secret that he kept from Felicia. He was an Arcanist. He could light any candle without a match, or heat water without having to stoke up a fire. Felicia did know from seeing how fast hot baths were drawn for her. She knew many things about Vidis. She knew how much he loved her. But the thing she knew more than anything was that she did not love him. Because she was too kind, she did not want to see the young man's heart broken.

One day in the rainy beginnings of summer, Felicia fell gravely ill. No apothecary in town had what she needed. Vidis ran to the next town over, finding the herbs he needed. On the way back, an elderly woman's wagon was stuck in the mud. She called out for help, but Vidis was too worried about Felicia. He did not apologize, nor even look at the woman. She stared wide-eyed at the fleeing man and bore a curse upon him. "May those that do not love you burn like the hatred in my old heart!" She, too, was an Arcanist, but a much more powerful one than Vidis had ever seen.

Felicia was better within a week, and Vidis finally got a chance to lay in bed with his wife. Felicia had finally agreed to try for a child with her husband, and he was far too excited. His increased heartbeat set the curse into motion. Although they did not notice it during coitus, tiny wisps of flame leapt from Vidis's skin. The next morning, Vidis was awoken to the foul stench of burned skin and ash. He felt for Felicia, but did not see her. Instead, there was a pile of something that felt like sand where she should be. Where his wife had laid in bed was a pile of ashes so dark it seemed as though the ashes themselves had caught fire. The ashes were shaped like a human, and the clothes his wife wore did not burn. Neither did the wedding ring.

Vidis screamed and wept, pretending it not to be true. But he knew it was. Vidis died on the inside on that day. People in the village murmured that Vidis had killed her because she was sleeping with another man. They murmured that he was a dark being sent to take the virginity of young women. They murmured awful things that only darkened his soul. Not a single one dared speak a word of grief. Not a single one spoke a word of sympathy. Not a single one asked what happened. They just kept away from him and whispered...

Vidis served as a mercenary for the next ten years. Without money, morals, or a home to go back to, Vidis would take any job. But more often than not, Vidis took the most dangerous ones. Vidis wanted to die. He forged unmatched skills in combat by fighting dragons, armies, demons, angels, and even creatures that do not have names yet. He would fight them. And because he did not have a reason to return alive, he would take the million-to-one chances. Vidis survived this way because he could not be bested. He wished he could die, but he would not fall upon his own sword. He wanted to find a reason to live again. When all hope seemed lost, Vidis met a young woman named Ciara Aldrana. And although he won't admit it, her sense of purpose at that time was what caused him to fall of her, and is what brought him to her side.

Magic

Type: Sorcerer
Description: Vidis's power is a flame. It's a flame that destroys life and life alone. It's a curse that was once the best tool in his arsenal. Within one yard in every direction of Vidis's body, there is nothing but whispy blue fire that ceases to end. Water does not douse it and wind does not spread it. It burns whatever it comes in contact with, so long as it is living. The soil does not burn, but grass will. A bed will not burn, but a person will. And it is not a slow, agonizing burn. The fire that comes from Vidis is a quick, flash burn. It can turn skin and bone to ash within a minute. Thankfully, Vidis's armor keeps it in. If Vidis wears clothing, whatever is uncovered is the source of fire, which can reduce the effective range. Vidis can not control this fire whatsoever.

Combat

Equipment:
Dragonscale Armor: Vidis's armor is not normal full plate. It is lined with fire dragon scales, preventing any fire from escaping his body so long as most of the plate is in place.
Brondwell: Vidis carries a sword that has been tempered with fire-resistant steel. It would take a fire so hot that no living creature (save for an exceptionally-strong fire dragon) could produce to melt the blade.

Comments/Notes: That fire... Lame for him. Remember that tier is a representation on how much arcana a character has. You've stated within app that this character has no control over their fire, so I suspect a very low number, if not a 0 in energy control. Another thing, this low tier is a representation on how much he has based on how far that fire spreads without the armor. If it starts growing, his tier will grow.
