Character Information
Personality: Brynjolf is perhaps one of the nicest people you could meet. He doesn't have a heart of gold, he has a soul of it. The man will stop to aid old ladies crossing the street. He'll give up a cab so a young lady might have it. He'll give advice to anyone who asks, but will never place it if it is unwarranted. Brynjolf is rarely without a smile. It might be hidden behind his mustache, but he's practically always smiling. He wants to drink, dance, wrestle, laugh, etc. with everyone he meets. They are his friends, and they are welcome to his home. Brynjolf doesn't care if you are man or woman, old or young, human or elf, Zakatian or Arcadian—so long as you do not desire harm, he will be friendly to you. Brynjolf says that people are most free on a mountaintop. The people down below think with clouded minds from having too much air.
Brynjolf is easily embarrassed when it comes to talk of womenfolk, and his feelings for them. He is not seeing anyone, but he does desire a wife. He also desires lots of children and grandchildren, but knows that his wife might. So he'll just settle for lots of grandchildren! Brynjolf loves long, dark hair. He also loves women with a particular glow about them. To him, it signifies "that they are like the first spring sun after a cold winter." Brynjolf hates it when a woman cries, and that might be the only time he turns to violence. For if he can stop a woman from crying, he will punch someone in the face. Brynjolf never kills another humanoid, however. He always incapacitates.
Character Background: The Braukan mountains are not all uninhabited. Sure, the peaks are bare for the most part. But up near the peaks at the southern edge lives a small family. There, Brynjolf was born. He was a large baby, and an even larger child. He had eight brothers and sisters, all of whom would be 6 inches or more shorter than he would grow to be. Brynjolf's family included his mother, father, and his mother's parents. His father's parents were where they had set up claim, peaks away from their child. Brynjolf was always happy to visit them. He got to play in new snow! Brynjolf will tell you now that there is a difference in the snow of one peak and another. The same can be said with the snow of one city and another. Brynjolf was not a bookish child like his oldest brother. He was a hard-working child that admired his father, Hrolfyr. From a young age, Brynjolf would join his father in gathering wood for the fire. He'd help hunt down deer and bear, and he killed his first of the latter when he was only nine.
When Brynjolf turned twelve, his grandmother did some strange ritual on him. She confirmed with a blue flame that he was an Arcanist. The family was excited. His father and older brother then taught him the arts they knew, which were that of the Scholar. It seemed that he, too, was a Scholar. He used the tattoos he learned from them, most of which were passed down for generations. And he grew stronger in more ways than one. Brynjolf soon was allowed to travel down the mountains, and he was shown the path to 'civilization.' He was told to explore the world and bring back a nice woman. He promised that he would not return until he had the most beautiful woman in the land. And so Brynjolf traveled. He started in Brauk, and he spent many, many years there, traveling from peak to peak. He met many different people. He thought he had the woman of his dreams four times, but they did not turn out to be the one for him. So Brynjolf still searches, waiting for his beauty.
Magic
Type: Scholar
Description: Brynjolf's magic takes the form mainly in the tattoos he has across his body. They are mainly physical buffs to allow him to live safely among the highest peaks. He has one that makes it impossible for him to get 'airsick.' The funny thing is, that's from having too much air. His body is acclimated to the high peaks of Brauk, so he requires something special for the lowlands. He has others that prevent his grip on stone from slipping, and more that keep him from slipping on snow or ice. There is even another that keeps him warm, even through the harshest blizzard. All-in-all, they give a +40 to strength and a +30 to durability and endurance. He also has a +60 to agility, but that only applies to slipping. He also has the strange ability to create animal food that causes mustaches not unlike his own to grow on the animal. The tattoos are the first form. He also has enchanted some of his gear with similar magic, and that is displayed below.
Face of the Mountain: This is a massive door made of Ariac Marble, Cierian Marble, and Void Steel. The door itself is older than Brynjolf's grandfather. It was used to keep a vault sealed shut. But when a child was trapped within, Brynjolf ripped it from its hinges. He decided to keep the door afterwards. It makes a fantastic shield, and it is so heavy that he has to leave it on the first floor of a building.
Combat
Equipment: He has many different knickknacks. He has a self-cooking pot, an everburning torch, a bag of holding, a canteen of holding (very useful), an inkless pen, a folding tent, an inflatable pillow, a Braukan Army Knife, a magnifying glass, a copy of Burtam's Big Bestiary, a copy of Hubert's Herbology, a copy of Cooking with Cameron du Val, and enough trail rations to last him two months (he especially likes dried banana chips).
Skills: Brynjolf has many, many skills. He is undefeated at goat wrestling. He is unmatched when it comes to boulder tossing. He is unrivaled in ice melting. He has many useful skills too! Brynjolf is a fantastic chef. Do not call him a cook, as he will immediately correct you. He is an amazing human wrestler as well. He is also good at boxing, although he does not do it. It is mainly because his punches hurt a lot more than a normal man of his size.
