Broken [Closed]

For some, the weight of ones problems doesn't always overwhelm them. The every day struggles of the normal person aren't something to break down over. It's the extraordinary issues that cause extreme reactions. Being cheated out of your life, having your love ripped forever from your heart, experiencing the horrors of murder and death at young ages... These are issues that may overwhelm. The nightmares consisting of terrible acts, the fates of innocent people being forever altered by the outside sources of evil. These are the issues that can overwhelm. Vivianna Bellante, a name she has come to hate, has issues like these. Her life has been filled with pain and hatred as she watches her sister fall.

It was the afternoon and Victoria was busy. Vivianna made her way out of the place she called home and over to a cliff. She didn't see the boat off in the distance because she was staring down at the water. She enjoyed sound of waves crashing against the side of the cliff. The cool breeze coming off the ocean was soothing. Today was a good day. Vivanna stepped toward the edge, but her foot did not meet ground. She leaned forward as her foot went over, her body tumbling through the air. The sounds of wind rushing through the fabric of her clothes as she fell overwhelmed her sense of sound. She looked to the water as it came closer and closer. She hoped to hit the rocks, but she aimed wrong.

With a heavy splash against the surface of the ocean, Vivanna's petite body began to sank, her heavy clothes pulling her farther and farther down. And in the mean time... "Hey... You seein' that?" Jaden called out to Julius. Jaden sat on the side of the ship, his spear laying over his shoulder while he ate an orange. When Julius came over, he motioned toward the top of the cliff. There was a girl standing there, looking down at the water. "You think she's gonna jump?" Jaden asked at the moment of Vivianna taking that step. "Well that answers that question..." Jaden popped a piece of his orange into his mouth and looked to Julius, "You rescuing her? Or is it my turn this time? I think it's yours."

Vivianna barely felt the arms of the one who saved her. She barely felt that she was being pulled from the water. It was only when she wasn't completely in the water and being hoisted up to the ship that she regained her composure. She was in the arms of a man. She stared at him. With wide and emotionless eyes that felt like the sharpest daggers, she stared directly into his eyes. They got onto the ship and Vivianna stood there frozen like a statue. "Here's your stuff man." Jaden came over, half an orange slice sticking out of his mouth as he handed Julius his stuff back. Vivianna still did not look away from Julius. She began breathing heavy and it got quicker. After a few moments, she stopped breathing all together. She reached for her waist, as if she were grabbing a weapon, but looked down to see it wasn't even there. She looked back to Julius and charged at him. She grabbed onto his shirt and began trying to slam her fists into his chest one by one. She began yelling and growling, but not speaking any clear words. She kept doing this, hitting and growling, until finally she yelled, "WHY!?"

Was that a threat? Did he just threaten to kill her? Vivianna's vision went back to normal, her tunnel vision ending. She looked to both of her wrists and then back to him. She pulled away from him, but she wasn't able to break free. Panic filled her eyes as she pulled away even harder, jerking back with all of her strength, and began screaming. Finally he let go and Vivianna fell back with a pretty hard thud, hitting her head on the side of the boat. It didn't seem to phase her though, because she crawled away from them and clung to the gunwale on the side of the boat. She was visibly shaking, glaring at each and every one of them with horror in her eyes. It was then that she realized how many of them were around her. "Get away..." she muttered. "Didn't hear you, what?" "GET AWAY!" Vivanna screamed at the top of her lungs, pushing herself harder into the gunwale, as if she could escape that way.

Vivianna began muttering to herself, scratching at the wood she clung to. She flinched at the sound of the gangplank lowering and looked up in time to see her sister running toward her. Vivianna shot to her feet and clung to her sister, reacting the way she normally should. She returned her sisters hug and turned to the crew with Victoria. She watched with a sad expression while Victoria threatened the crew. When Vivianna looked away to ignore the situation, that saddness faded quickly and her expression went blank. Jaden crossed his arms, paying his attention to Victoria and not noticing the change in Vivianna. He raised his eyebrow at her threats and glanced to Julius, but the man was gone.

"There won't be any killing here. No one did anything wrong or to harm your sister. We can promise you that." Jaden stepped forward to speak up, "In fact, my friend, who I assume went to go change clothes, saved her life." Vivianna's expression darkened as she looked to Jaden over her sisters shoulder. She gave him a glare that would frighten most, but Jaden knew what that was. Vivianna didn't want her sister to know what really happened. Jaden knew exactly what to do then. "Your sister fell off the cliff. It was just luck that we noticed her falling. Julius is the one who swam out to get her. I'll go get him and he can explain the rest." Jaden quickly winked at Vivianna, who's eyes widened.

Jaden hurried to find Julius, probably catching him on his way back. "Julius, we've got a very cranky vixen out on deck. She's aware of the fact that you saved her sister, but not of why you had to. Now, I'm sure we don't want to reveal such a horrible thing right now, maybe in private where the crew can't hear... and well... Just don't mention the suicide attempt until we can talk to the busty one alone, okay?" Outside on the deck, Vivianna was staring off at the ocean, replying to her sister if talked to. Otherwise, she was muttering. "He winked at me... Is he gonna try something? I wonder what that means... The other threatened me. Should I tell sister? No, I'll just let him kill me when he wants."

Vivianna smiled as she and her sister touched foreheads. It was all she could do right now. She was scared of what those two were going to tell Victoria; she hoped they'd keep it a secret. When Jaden and Julius returned, Vivianna's smile fell and her gaze focused on Julius. He was going to tell, wasn't he? Vivianna felt a horrible pit form in her stomach. The group made their way back to the house. Vivianna nodded to her sister, "Okay, I will." With a much cheerier stride than before, Vivianna hurried off to take her bath. Jaden sat down on either of Victoria's sides. "Thank you. It's nice to finally be around someone who understands the word 'soap' and all that it entails." Jaden said smoothly.

When Victoria asked about what happened to her sister, Jaden wasn't sure how to answer. Should they answer completely honestly? This is Victoria Bellante. "Well, um." Jaden straightened his back, glancing to Julius for a moment, "I really do hate to be the one to have to inform you of this, but your sister seems to want to end her own life." Jaden stopped there to guage a reaction out of Victoria. He didn't want to anger her, and lying would do that. He just knew the truth likely would as well. "She wasn't pushed, nor did she fall. Your sister walked off that cliff. We saw it. When Julius pulled her from the water, she began striking him and screaming. She asked why he pulled her from the water as well."

Victoria's immediate response was understandable. Jaden just looked to Julius so he would be the one to speak up. There was nothing more Jaden felt he could say to convince her. Luckily, Julius seemed to be able to do so. "Don't worry, please. This is not a matter we would reveal to anyone." Jaden relaxed a bit in his seat, "Just because we work along side less than trustworthy men, does not mean we are one of them. This issue is safe with us." Jaden raised an eyebrow. They weren't allowed to leave? That didn't feel right. Whether they lied or not, the fact that Vivianna was wet and cold when Victoria arrived pretty much screamed that she had fallen in the ocean. Julius had obviously saved her as well.

Well, that was sitting wrong with Jaden already. He glanced to Julius again to see what he thought of the situation. The coffee came and Jaden took a sip of his. That was the last sip he was taking of that coffee. He didn't show it, but it was too bitter and he usually drowned out the taste of caffiene with sugar and milk. "My name is Jaden Heskett." he introduced himself first and then let Julius speak up. A moment later, the sound of foot steps slapped along the ground as Vivianna reappeared. She was in clean clothes and had her hair down, but it was still a little wet. When she showed up, she looked to Jaden and Julius first and then stopped about ten feet away from them, keeping her distance.

This was probably the most awkward situation that anyone here, besides Victoria, had probably been in. Vivianna wanted to speak up against her sisters decision. She felt that both of these men deserved some sort of decent place to stay, but she didn't have the courage to speak out. Before the group separated, Vivianna glanced back to Julius and Jaden with an apologetic expression. Later that night, Vivianna was having a hard time eating her food. She wondered what Victoria had been told, but that question was answered when her sister spoke up. "Wh-What?!" the little actress looked apalled, "N-No, of course not!" Vivianna was always a good actress. It was the only way to keep her sister happy.

Jaden was laying on the ground, staring up at the sky while the two ladies enjoyed their dinner. He looked over to Julius and raised an eyebrow. "You sure you're not overreacting to her behavior? That woman is feisty." Jaden said with a smirk. He was interested in Victoria's story. She was an interesting one. "No, don't worry. I can sense something odd about this place. The way she said servants bothered me; she doesn't treat her help very well. It makes me wonder what type of woman Victoria Bellante actually is." Jaden sat up and looked to Julius, "Look, if we have to run, we'll run. If we have to fight, we'll fight. Let's just hope it doesn't come to that. It's not like we lied, so we'll be fine."

Vivianna didn't think her sister would be mad at her over the action, but didn't want her sister drilling into why she did it. Telling your sister that you hate who she's become is not something that anyone wants to go through, especially with how much Victoria has done for her. "Hurt me? No. They did not. They were actually..." Vivianna showed an almost confused expression, "...kind of nice. It was weird. I'm sorry though. They shouldn't have lied to you. I wouldn't do something like that, okay?"

"Whether it was right or wrong is not our concern, Julius. The fact is, if she was going to harm herself, her sister needed to know." Jaden stood up and stretched, twisting himself back and forth, "We can't watch over the girl or her secret. Once Victoria talks to her sister, we'll be able to go. We just got to wait..." Jaden looked over toward the cliff, "It's a nice night. Haven't had a view like this in a while."

They didn't' lie about it. Vivianna was the liar in this case. She just couldn't tell her sister. When Victoria walked out, Vivianna lowered her head in shame. She sat there for a short while and then decided to follow her sister. Outside, Jaden was laughing at Julius. "Yeah, I know. The mayor of Colburn is a bit childish. I couldn't believe he had us arrested. He was the one running his horses around the corner. He was the one that was late; I just happened to be running through there as they turned." Jaden said with a smile, "It was wo-..." He stopped when he was cut off by Victoria, "What? We did not lie." When Vivianna showed up, she hid behind a wall and tried to keep from being seen.

"What?" Jaden's eyes narrowed. He looked to the two guards, taking a few steps back as they got closer. Jaden looked to Julius and waved his hand, motioning for him to hold his ground. "Now look. We did not lie. We saw what we saw and told you exactly that. If anyone is lying, it's your sister. Maybe she's scared for you to find out the truth, I don't know, but that's not our problem." Jaden spoke this while keeping his eye on the incoming guards. Vivianna listened from her little hiding spot. Jaden was right about her. Should she come forth? Her sister wouldn't really harm them. She's just scaring them into telling the truth, right? Vivianna knew better than that. She was just lying to herself now.

It began. Vivianna watched the scene unfold before her. She had done this to them. The guard approached Jaden and went to strike with the back end of a hatchet. Jaden moved out of the way and even dodged the second attack that barely missed his face. "We did not lie! And admitting to something we did not do, would you call of your gu-..." Jaden was struck in the stomach and fell over. He tried to catch his breath as the wind was knocked out of him. The guard grabbed his wrist and planted it against the ground, ready to chop off his fingers. The other guard took his chance after striking Julius' gut to grab the mans hair. Vivianna was wanting to speak up. She couldn't say it. Instead, she moved.

Vivianna rushed forward and pushed one guard away from Julius, which was enough to stop the second. The guard looked at her with a raised eyebrow and spoke angrily, "Lady Bellante has asked for these two to be punished. Why does her younger sister interfere?" Vivianna was frozen. The guard turned to her. He was not threatening her, but just curious of her actions. Vivianna's fear of men took hold. Her pupils dilated. She began to sweat and shake. Jaden noticed this and hoped Julius did too. It was like back on the ship, where Vivianna was freaking out and screaming. "Julius." Jaden called out and used his free hand to point to Vivianna and the guard, "Put your back to the girl."

"Just do it!" Jaden said as he jerked his hand away from the guard. The man hadn't been paying attention, so he took his chance. He kicked the guy away from him and stood up, stepping back a bit. Vivianna had been staring in fear at the guard when suddenly she was staring at hair. She blinked a couple times and looked around, realizing that Julius had stepped between the two of them. Hearing her sister yell caused her to jump. Vivianna took a few steps back from the group and covered her ears. "I told him to do that because your sister is afraid of men. I remember how she started screaming when Julius stopped her from hitting him. He had grabbed her wrists because she wouldn't stop attacking." Jaden explained and sighed, "When your guard was staring down at her, she froze. When Julius stepped in between, she was able to focus again. It is something I learned a long time ago. Now Vivianna... I think you have something to say to your sister, don't you?"

Vivianna opened her eyes and looked to Jaden, Julius, and then Victoria. She hesitated and couldn't keep looking at her sister. "I-I lied... They didn't. They saved me. I walked off the cliff on my own." Vivianna's eyes narrowed toward the ground, "I thought if you knew, you'd be mad at me."

Jaden raised an eyebrow at Julius. "No, this is cute. I'm going to watch. Besides, if anyone could get that young lady to care about her life again, it's you." Jaden smirked at Julius. There was an evil intent behind that smirk though, one that Julius would recognize. Jaden wanted to get to know Victoria. Vivianna lowered her head and kept looking away. "I don't know how to talk about things. I am not even sure I'm ready to talk about them either. That's the problem." Vivianna explained, "I can't even promise I won't try it again. I'm just trying to get through a few things and it's hard. I... I'm going to bed." Vivianna ran off as quickly as she could. "Lady Bellante, I understand your concern for your sister more than you know." Jaden stepped forward and spoke up, "If I may ask a question, how long has she been on the island? Does she ever get out? Does she have friends or anyone to talk to? Obviously she has you and you two seem very close. It may sound strange, but sometimes there are things that come up in life that are easier to tell a stranger over your own flesh and blood... Julius can help with that."
